ABSTRACT This study examined the protective potential of Salvia officinalis essential oil (OSO) for mild steel in 1.0 M HCl using electrochemical methods, surface analyses, and theoretical approaches. Electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) demonstrated an increase in charge-transfer resistance from 34.7 Ω·cm2 to 245.4 Ω·cm2, coupled with a marked reduction in double-layer capacitance from 121 µF to 41.6 µF, confirming the formation of a protective organic film.

ABSTRACT Two benzothiazolium derivatives, BFZ1 and BFZ2, were synthesised and were extensively characterised by ¹H and ¹³C NMR, FTIR spectroscopy and mass spectrometry. Density functional theory (DFT) calculations indicated that BFZ1 is more reactive, whereas BFZ2 is more chemically stable. The anticorrosive performance of these materials on mild steel in 1 M HCl was evaluated via electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and potentiodynamic polarisation (PDP).

ABSTRACT This study explores the efficacy of bisphenol A tetraglycidyl ether dianiline dipropoxy epoxy polymer (TGEDADPBA) as a safeguarding agent, using both experimental and computational approaches. The study found that 97.4% defensive level was achieved at 10−3 M. The corrosion current density (icorr) exhibited a substantial decline, from 982 μA/cm² in the 1.0 M HCl solution to 25 μA/cm² at 10−3 M.
