Interview

What was your first job as a journalist?

I began as a blogger on my personal blog, designed on blogger.com, that's where I wrote about tech news and stuff.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

I haven't yet, but I have seen one. Does randomly typing on a vintage typewriter count?

How is social media changing news?

Social media has greatly impacted the way news is being disseminated and consumed. It has expanded the reach of news and allowed for a wider and more diverse audience to access information. Social media platforms like Twitter and Facebook have become major sources of breaking news and have enabled journalists to share information instantly with the world. Additionally, social media has also given individuals the ability to share their own stories and perspectives, providing a more diverse array of voices and perspectives in the news landscape. However, the decentralization of news has also led to the spread of misinformation and fake news, which is a growing concern for the media industry. The challenge for journalists is to navigate these challenges while also taking advantage of the benefits that social media provides, such as a wider audience reach and more diverse voices.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

For me, it's the art of capturing reality, distilling it into ink-stained narratives that inform, provoke, and inspire.

What's your favorite social network?

Instagram is my favorite social network

Who do you wish followed you?

Steve Jobs

Why did you become a journalist?

Picture this: a love affair with gadgets, an insatiable curiosity for innovation, and a burning desire to translate complex jargon into captivating stories. That's precisely why I became a tech journalist, to unravel the techscape and bring its wonders to the masses.

When's the best time to pitch you?

The best time to reach me with a story worth its salt is in the morning, when I'm sipping my tea and my mind is as sharp as a razor. So, if you have a pitch that's worth its weight in gold, send it my way and let's see if we can make some magic happen!

What's the best pitch you ever got?

A school teacher emailed me, sharing her captivating and natural daily routine with the kids. It was absolutely fantastic!

What's your favorite drink?

Ah, water—a testament to my wild and thrilling taste buds!

When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?

In nature.

Aside from your own, what's your favorite publication to read?

I like reading CNET, The Verge, Engadget (sometimes), and How-to Geek.

What's the most common misperception about your beat?

As a blogger and tech journalist, the most common misperception about your beat is that technology is just about hardware and software, when in reality, it is much more than that. Technology is a driving force behind many of the changes we're seeing in our world, and it's about the ways people use it to solve problems, create new opportunities, and make a difference. People often think of technology as a neutral and impartial tool, but in reality, it is shaped by the values and biases of those who design and create it. And while technology is relevant to everyone, it is often seen as only being relevant to a small group of people, such as tech enthusiasts or gamers. However, by focusing on the people and the impact of technology, you have the opportunity to challenge these misconceptions and provide insightful and impactful reporting to your readers. So, the most important thing to remember as a blogger and tech journalist is to cover technology in a way that goes beyond just hardware and software, and instead, highlights the ways it affects our world and the people who use it.
