After completing my general education, I focused myself to photography. I found photography is a perfect tool for me to raise the voice and to convey the message to the society.

What was your first job as a journalist?

My first assignment was documenting the water crisis in the coastal belt of Bangladesh, where rising salinity and climate change have severely affected access to safe drinking water. It opened my eyes to how deeply environmental issues are tied to human survival And the urgent need to tell these stories.

The Jackson Wild Media Awards are like the Oscars for nature and science stories. In 2023, they got over 1,100 entries from 74 countries. Judges from around the world watched over 1,200 hours of media to pick the best ones. One of the winners was a film called 'Goni' by Drik Picture Library and Untamed Planet. It's about Bangladeshi workers in the Middle East, and it won in the Global Voices category. I am Goni, and I'm incredibly proud and grateful to Drik Picture Library and Untamed Planet to have been a part of the documentary film called 'Goni.

The capital Dhaka was built around the once mighty river Buriganga. Over time, rivers and connecting canals have become encroached and filled. Rivers are dying and polluted due to uncontrolled urbanization. The level of pollution is so high that many animal species are lost and the health of the city dwellers is also at risk.
