I am Abdulrasheed Akere, a member of PEN PRESS UDUS. I have been a campus journalist since 2020 — about three years ago. In January 2023, I bagged PEN PRESS Reporter of the year, also awarded as the Essayist of the year of National Association of Campus Journalists, or NACJ, Usmanu Danfodiyo University Sokoto (UDUS) chapter.

I was shortlisted as number six of the Gamji prime writing contest. Recently, I emerged as the overall winner of the March 2023 edition of Writer's Fest writing contest.

The Association of Campus Journalists, Obafemi Awolowo University (ACJOAU), on Thursday, July 23, 2026, withdrew from the live coverage of the ongoing Great Ife Students' Union election, citing alleged harassment, intimidation and obstruction of its reporters by electoral officials at Polling Units on campus. The decision was announced in a statement jointly signed by the association's President, Esther Olatimehin, and Public Relations Officer, Olanrewaju Lawal.

After The Liberalist's Report, Oyo Govt Revamps Neglected Rural School

Oyo state government has rehabilitated a dilapidated school building and deployed four teachers to Community Primary School, Tewure-Ju, in Orire Local Government, following a report by The Liberalist. For more than five years, the school was in dire need of attention, with its deteriorating condition threatening child education in the community. When The Liberalist visited the school in 2023, the signs of neglect were obvious, with its wrecked infrastructure.

NYSC Speaks on minimum wage payment for Corps Members

The National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) has debunked the widespread information regarding the payment of ₦70,000 minimum wage to Corps Members and the directive to upgrade bank accounts. Per a statement issued by the Director of Information and Public Relations, Eddy Megwa, the information is “absolute falsehood which is far from the truth”.
