Pharmacists in aged care facilities recorded an average of 3.1 adverse events or symptoms per resident over the year, of which 68.8% were deemed likely to be AMEs. Underreporting of AMEs by pharmacists was evident, with 14.7% of panel-identified AMEs recorded in pharmacists' notes. There was a low but statistically significant agreement between pharmacist-documented AMEs and those identified by a clinical panel (κ = 0.074, p = 0.008).

Community pharmacy professionals are being widely accepted as sources of treatment and advice for managing minor ailments, largely owing to their location at the heart of the community. The aim of the present study was, therefore, to document the involvement of community pharmacy professionals in the management of minor ailments and perceived barriers that limit their provision of such services.
