Prediction of species richness and diversity in sub‐alpine grasslands using satellite remote sensing and random forest machine‐learning algorithm
1 INTRODUCTION Biodiversity is essential for maintaining ecosystem functioning and services and supporting human well-being (Oliver et al., 2015). Plant diversity in grassland ecosystems contributes to multiple ecosystem services at local and landscape scales, making conservation efforts within and among ecological communities imperative (Hautier et al., 2018). However, monitoring biodiversity at various scales is a common conservation challenge in protected areas (Ferreira et al., 2011).

Influence of Environmental Factors on Species Richness and Diversity in a Semi-Arid Environment, South Africa
3. Results Both the species richness and the NSDI had low p-values (≈0.0003), indicating a statistically significant difference between richness and diversity across the vegetation units (Table 2). Unit 1 contained the highest number of species (34), whereas Unit 11 had more than five times fewer species (6). Subsequently, the degree of pairwise relationships between the vegetation unit response and each different environmental predictor was investigated using ANOVA and linear correlations.
Comparative Analysis of Single Bands, Vegetation Indices, and Their Combination in Predicting Grass Species Nitrogen in a Protected Mountainous Area
Abstract : The role of biodiversity in improving the primary productivity within terrestrial ecosystems is well documented. Each species in an ecosystem has a role to play in the overall productivity of an ecosystem. Grass species nitrogen (N) estimation is essential in rangelands, especially in rugged terrain such as mountainous regions. It is an indicator of forage quality, which has nutritional implications for grazing animals.
Modeling habitat quality for rangeland ecosystem restoration in the Alledeghi Wildlife reserve, Ethiopia
1 Introduction Biodiversity enhances ecosystem functionality which leads to improved ecosystem services through balancing and stabilizing ecological communities across scales (Cardinale et al., 2012; Oliver et al., 2015). The biodiversity of an area can be determined through habitat conditions whereas the importance of habitat depends on its quality (Basane and James, 2016).

Apportioning Human-Induced and Climate-Induced Land Degradation: A Case of the Greater Sekhukhune District Municipality
1. Introduction Land degradation (LD) is one of the most serious global environmental issues affecting over one billion people [1,2]. LD has a broad range of definitions that essentially describe circumstances of reduced biological productivity of the land. According to Weldemariam [3], LD is the prolonged reduction of ecosystem function and vegetation productivity of the land from which the land cannot recover unaided.

A GEE toolkit for water quality monitoring from 2002 to 2022 in support of SDG 14 and coral health in marine protected areas in Belize
1 Introduction Coral reefs have substantial cultural, economic, and environmental value (Kenchington, 2018; Obura et al., 2019; Mason et al., 2020). These reefs provide a host of ecosystem services through tourism, biodiversity, fisheries, and coastal protection (Lazuardi et al., 2021).
