I’m a multi-platform journalist from Australia reporting across print, radio, video and online. I also dabble in commentary and consulting. Currently I write regularly on foreign affairs with a focus on South Asia, where I spent almost a decade as a foreign correspondent. I also write on design and architecture, human rights, business and development, amongst other fields.

I have interviewed the prime minister of Bhutan Tshering Tobgay, India’s former chief economic advisor Kaushik Basu, London…

What was your first job as a journalist?

As an overnight radio news journalist as the SBS office in Melbourne.

Have you ever used a typewriter?

Yes, as a child: first a manual typewriter, then electric, with a miracle delete key! Then we graduated to an Apple IIe & never looked back.

How is social media changing news?

Sourcing side: eyewitness accounts; easier to locate talent/sources; although important to note these not always verifiable. Also marketing.
