1 Introduction Since the discovery of the chiral(ity)-induced spin selectivity (CISS) in 1999 [1], the effect has been observed in a wide variety of chiral materials and compounds [2, 3]. A standard configuration for detecting CISS consists of a ferromagnetic Ni substrate (often capped by a thin Au layer) and few-nanometer-long thiolated biomolecules, such as double-stranded DNA or polypeptides, deposited as self-assembled monolayers (SAMs) [4-7].
