Clozapine en koorts: vaar niet op de spiegel, maar op het klinisch beeld

Bij gebruik van clozapine is koorts een belangrijk symptoom. Snelle diagnostiek naar de oorzaak van de koorts is essentieel. Dat kan van levensbelang zijn. Bij het instellen op clozapine, vooral in de eerste 3 weken, kan een benigne hyperthermie tot hoger dan 38°C optreden. Ook het maligne antipsychoticasyndroom komt voor bij clozapinegebruik en veroorzaakt koorts.
