Cotati officials are moving to accelerate housing projects through multiple initiatives following a Cotati City Council meeting Tuesday. Councilmembers have authorized the mayor to send a letter to the Renewal Enterprise District (RED) to add Cotati to the member list. While not concrete yet, joining RED would help speed up high density housing, affordable housing and transit orientated housing. The boost in production would stem from tax-exempt bonds, property-tax exemptions and housing loans.

Unassuming Sprite bottles occupied the hands of college students and party goers looking for a night’s entertainment in Santa Rosa during Kappa Rho Epsilon and Tyler Alejos’ “Xmas before Santa” party Dec. 12. The clamor of the partygoers echoed down the desolate Dutton Avenue as they poured into The Shop — a venue that typically hosts local music shows. KPE founders and Tyler Alejos, founder of Prime Social Events, collaborated to host the fraternity’s second party.

Renovations throughout Cotati are making progress and national issues involving SNAP and CalFresh are currently being addressed following a Cotati City Council meeting Tuesday, Oct. 28 at Cotati City Hall. According to City Manager Damien O’Bid, Cotati staff are in discussion with Redwood Empire Food Bank in response to recent federal cuts to SNAP and CalFresh.
