Milton pulls away from Lassiter early

MARIETTA – Milton led 7-0 at halftime, 10-1 after three quarters and it cruised to an 11-5 victory over Lassiter in the Division 2 state semifinals at Frank Fillmann Stadium on Saturday. It was a busy game for goalkeeper William Smith, who came through with 11 saves to try to keep the Trojans in the game, but by the time the offense finally got started, the game was out of reach. Chris Wiggins managed four goals for the Trojans, but Milton was able to avenge last year's semifinal loss to Lassiter.

Lassiter rallies late to earn championship berth

MARIETTA – Ava Hardy scored twice, with her second goal being the game-winner, to propel Lassiter to a 10-9 victory over Roswell on Saturday in the semifinals of the Division 2 state playoffs at Frank Fillmann Stadium. Hardy's game-winner came on a free-shot attempt that found the back of the net with 2:36 remaining, and it put the Trojans back in front after Sydney Goode tied the game at 9-all roughly 2 minutes earlier.

Harrison comeback falls just short

KENNESAW — The Harrison girls lacrosse team took pride making comebacks this spring, winning six one-goal games. On Wednesday, the Hoyas appeared to be on track toward winning their seventh. They were on the verge of tying North Gwinnett at the buzzer after trailing by as many as four goals early in the fourth quarter, and Emily Tranum made a penalty shot that would have tied the game with 0.3 seconds left.
