A year and half ago, I was appointed as California’s first senator on the Senate Agriculture Committee in more than three decades. And in the time since, I’ve had a chance to travel up and down the state, sit down with farmers and farmworkers, and hear what is affecting them and their outlooks for the coming harvests. I can’t imagine a more challenging time to be in the agriculture industry. And everywhere I have traveled, I have always asked the same thing: What can I do to help?
