A core-shell model of polymetallic hybrid metal halides
A core-shell model of polymetallic hybrid metal halides Most polymetallic hybrid metal halides are assumed to show a homogenous distribution of the metal ions in the bulk. Herein, we demonstrate a core-shell model for the hybrid lead halide [(C6H18N3)2•Pb2Br10] (C6H18N3 = 2-(piperazin-1-yl)ethan-1-aminium) coated with a manganese bromide layer.

Incorporation of U(IV) in monazite–cheralite ceramics under oxidizing and inert atmospheres
Incorporation of U(iv) in monazite–cheralite ceramics under oxidizing and inert atmospheres† This work is the first attempt to prepare Nd1−xCaxUxPO4 monazite–cheralite with 0 < x ≤ 0.1 by a wet chemistry method. This method relies on the precipitation under hydrothermal conditions (T = 110 °C for four days) of the Nd1−xCaxUxPO4·nH2O rhabdophane precursor, followed by its thermal conversion for 6 h at 1100 °C in air or Ar atmosphere.
First principles investigations of the optical selectivity of titanium carbide-based materials for concentrating solar power applications
First principles investigations of the optical selectivity of titanium carbide-based materials for concentrating solar power applications To improve the efficiency of concentrated solar power devices and to reach a high conversion rate of the solar energy into heat, a rational design of new high temperature absorber materials is a challenge of prime importance.
The Role of Water and Hydroxyl Groups in the Structures of Stetindite and Coffinite, MSiO4 (M = Ce, U)
Orthosilicates adopt the zircon structure types (I41/amd), consisting of isolated SiO4 tetrahedra joined by A-site metal cations, such as Ce and U. They are of significant interest in the fields of geochemistry, mineralogy, nuclear waste form development, and material science. Stetindite (CeSiO4) and coffinite (USiO4) can be formed under hydrothermal conditions despite both being thermodynamically metastable.
Preparation of CeSiO4 from aqueous precursors under soft hydrothermal conditions
Preparation of CeSiO4 from aqueous precursors under soft hydrothermal conditions Even though CeSiO4 was synthesized one time through a hydrothermal treatment, the conditions leading to its formation remain largely unknown. In order to define the optimized conditions of synthesis, a multiparametric study was developed by varying the pH of the solution, the temperature, the nature of the reactants and of the complexing ions in solution.
Overview of the crystal chemistry of the actinide chalcogenides: incorporation of the alkaline-earth elements
This review focuses on the results of exploratory syntheses of alkaline-earth-metal actinide chalcogenides Ak–An–Q (Ak = Ba, Sr; An = Th, U; Q = S, Se, and Te). About thirty new compounds are described. Although the basic building blocks of their structures are usually AnQ octahedra and AkQ bicapped trigonal prisms, these are combined in diverse ways to afford eleven new structure types.
