Packages And Options Original
Much like every other BMW out there, the new M2 is available with a plethora of extra goodies. Depending on the region, the G87 will have several packages to build on an already generously equipped standard car. Starting with the most traditional standalone option, the high-performance coupe gets an M Driver’s Package that raises the top speed from an electronically capped 155 mph (250 km/h) to 177 mph (285 km/h). In the United States, the 2023 M2 will get a Carbon Package at an additional cost.
Photo Comparison: 2023 BMW M2 vs 2022 Audi RS3 Sedan
Okay, so this is a bit of an unusual comparison, because one is a coupe and one is a sedan. However, it’s one that’s worth looking at because both cars are technically competitors, despite their different body styles. Both the BMW M2 and Audi RS3 represent different ways of ultimately doing the same thing—offering a thrilling sports car experience in a package that can be used everyday. They’re also around the same price, are similar in size, and come from rival automakers. So let’s check ’em out.
Photo Comparison: 2023 BMW M2 (G87) vs 2022 BMW M2 Competition (F87)
Now that the 2023 BMW M2 G87 is here, it’s time to see how it stacks up against its predecessor. After all, the previous-gen M2 was a beloved car, one that not only drive brilliantly (especially in CS form) but also looked great (especially in CS form). So can this new car top the last-gen car’s design? Let’s take a look. Up Front This is where the real comparison is going to happen and, ultimately, where customers will judge both cars.
G87 BMW M2 head-to-head with its ancestors: Shedding light on kilograms
The new 2023 BMW M2 G87 generation is the latest creation of the Garching-based M labs and definitely a highly awaited model by both fans and media. The high-performance compact coupe ushers in in a classic, elegant 2-door design and promises a thrilling, sheer driving pleasure in true BMW style.
2023 BMW XM - First Videos
The bespoke and first ever BMW XM is finally here. And now, BMW M is unleashing a series of videos to highlight the design and driving experience of the BMW XM. We covered the new XM in depth here, so feel free to catch up. But here are some of the highlights. First of all, it’s heavy. As a matter of fact, the heaviest BMW ever made. In North American specification, the XM crosses the 6,000-pound mark, weighing in at a colossal 6,062 pounds.
2023 BMW XM Weighs 6,062 Pounds, Its Heaviest Car Ever Original
We all knew this was coming. After all, BMW warned us the XM would be its heaviest production car ever if we exclude specialty models like the armored X5 and 7 Series. Earlier this year, 7 Series G70 project manager Christoph Fagschlunger said the plug-in hybrid SUV would go down in history as the heaviest vehicle BMW will ever make. A subsequent report from German magazine Auto Bild put the XM’s curb weight at around 2,700 kilograms (5,952 pounds).
BMW XM vs Lamborghini Urus
Now that the BMW XM is here, it’s the funkiest looking and most powerful BMW of all time. It also competes with cars that BMW wouldn’t normally compete with, such as the Lamborghini Urus. Typically, fast SUVs like the X5 M are outclassed by the Urus, as they can neither handle, nor accelerate like the big Lambo. However, the BMW XM now makes enough power and has enough style to actually compete with the Lamborghini, just as a budget option.
BMW XM vs. Ferrari Purosangue: Exclusivity at its finest
Comparing BMW and Ferrari might seem as a sacrilege to many die-hard Italian and German fans of the two brands. Moreso, bringing two organically different models side-by-side in a visual comparison seems even more controversial. With the Purosangue, Ferrari takes its first taste of what should be an SUV – in theory, only that it does in its own Italian fashion.
BMW XM vs. Bentley Bentayga: Battle of the Behemoths
The first-ever BMW XM and the Bentley Bentayga ultra-luxury SUV are one-of-a-kind within their own families. Certainly, they stand apart from the crowd in the premium segment. The Bavarian and the Briton both serve a dual purpose: delivering state-of-the-art performance while traveling in exquisite style inside-out. Now let’s see how they stack up against each other. The first major difference stuns the viewers as soon as they see the two competitors side-by-side.
Is the B58 Engine BMW's Best Engine Ever?
I can feel metaphorical pitchforks being thrown at me as we speak. Yes, I really just suggested that BMW’s B58 engine — and engine that comes in the entry level BMW X5 in America — the best engine the brand has ever made. Yes, that sounds a bit extreme at first but hear me out. The BMW B58 engine is a remarkable one. Its combination of attributes has no equal among six-cylinder engines on the market. In fact, it may not have an equal among all engines on the market. It’s that good.
LEAKED: 2022 BMW XM Engine Bay Shows Off New V8
BMW M is close to releasing its first standalone model since the M1, the upcoming BMW XM. While fans might be a bit salty about the first standalone M car since the Nixon administration being an SUV, there are still some things to be excited about. One of them is that BMW will be debuting an all-new V8 engine, which can be seen in this newly leaked photo showing off the XM’s engine bay. (We don’t own the photo but you can see it here) Under the hood of the new BMW XM we might get a new engine.
The Powerful Minivan: BMW 230e xDrive Active Tourer will arrive in 2022
The next generation BMW 2 Series Active Tourer is scheduled to launch in Summer 2022 and along with a new design, BMW will also include a few powertrain upgrades. One of them will power the BMW 230xe Active Tourer which will become the most powerful plug-in hybrid on the new U06 model. Currently that spot is taken by the BMW 225xe which uses a 1.5 liter three-cylinder engine paired with a small electric motor. The total power output is 224 horsepower.
New M Performance Parts for the 2022 BMW 2 Series Coupe
When it goes on sale this fall, the new BMW 2 Series Coupe will also launch a new range of M Performance Parts. The official press release skipped the M Performance Parts announcement, but several BMW websites are now showing a subset of the upcoming offerings. As always, the usual suspects are present. At the front, the redesigned 2 Series Coupe gets an optional carbon fiber trim around the kidney grille.
2023 BMW 8 Series spied testing with new infotainment screen
Funny how time flies, especially when it comes to certain cars. Some models age fast, while others do so incredibly gracefully, but in the end, they all need a small design update. One of the cars that could be easily included in this latter category is the 8 Series. It has such a good design (dare I say the best in BMW’s current line-up?) that it looks as if it was launched just the other day, not three years ago.
2022 BMW X5 M Facelift is already out testing
With a bit over a year since its market launch, the BMW X5 M SUV is already preparing for a facelift. Recent spy photos from Spain showcase a BMW X5 M Competition prototype wearing the usual camouflage. Judging by these shots, the X5 M Facelift is bound to get some small visual upgrades. At the front, the kidney grille seem to have gone a small redesign, while retaining the same size. At the bottom, the front bumper was redesigned to feature more aggressive shapes with larger air openings.
A close look at the M Performance Parts for the new BMW 4 Series Gran Coupe
In a new video, BMW introduces a series of M Performance Parts for the new 4 Series Gran Coupe. The short clip showcases the usual suspects: a carbon fiber front lip, new grill surrounds, side skirt attachments, a carbon fiber diffuser and trunk spoiler, and of course, the typical carbon fiber mirror caps. As always, the blacked out parts are paired with the Alpina White color on the exterior and the usual black-painted wheels. A combination that almost never fails to impress.
BMW i4 electric Gran Coupe showcases its M Performance Parts
BMW will debut one of their newest electric cars in early 2022. The BMW i4 electric Gran Coupe will join the flagship EV BMW iX in providing customers the next-generation of electro-mobility from Munich. For starters, the new BMW i4 is available in two power versions. The i4 eDrive40, boasting the classic rear-wheel drive architecture, will deliver 250 kW/340 hp and a range of up to 590 kilometers (367 miles) in the WLTP cycle.
New BMW M440i xDrive Convertible review finds it convincing and attractive
UK-based Auto Express has recently tested the new 4 Series Convertible generation in the M440i guise and concluded the open-top Bavarian offers a highly compelling technology and driving dynamics package. Although its looks may still be polarizing for many, the new M440i xDrive Convertible is in fact a great car, with an impressive technological package.
2023 BMW 7 Series prototype spotted again
New spy photos of the 2023 BMW 7 Series allows us to take a closer look at BMW’s upcoming flagship luxury car. The test mule is still wearing a lot of camouflage, and even some fake body panels, but there are some interesting bits we can see. For instance, the kidney grilles are still fairly large, if not as large as the current model. Also at the front, we can see that the new 7 Series might actually have some sort of unique headlight setup.
SPIED: 2023 G87 BMW M2 showcases its new kidney grille
After having seen the leaked bumper and front end design, and witnessed a bunch of artist renderings, it is clear that the forthcoming BMW M2 G87 generation will sport a new type of trapezoidal kidney grille with double, horizontal louvres. In the latest set of scoops (which you can see here), the still-camouflaged G87 M2 test prototype visibly flaunts its impressive, muscular kidneys in front of the camera, thus confirming the initial leaked images.

BMW Group as a pioneer in electromobility and exploring innovative mobility ideas is now presenting the fruit of its Research division, which came with two stunning concepts covering the area of micromobility.
New BMW 8 Series Edition Heritage launches in Australia
To celebrate the introduction of the legendary E31 model series 30 years ago, BMW Australia is now launching an exclusive, limited edition of the current 8 Series generation: the Heritage Edition models. The production run due for the Oz market will comprise just 9 examples, split across the three bodystyles: G14 Convertible, G15 Coupe and G16 Gran Coupe. Deliveries to clients are set to commence by the advent of Q4 this year.
PHOTO GALLERY: BMW G23 4 Series Convertible in the elegant San Remo Green
The second generation of the 4 Series Convertible has recently celebrated its debut in most European markets. The latest set of pictures of the open-top model comes from Poland as part of a media event. The location was chosen to further emphasize the open-top experience of the G23 model series.
2022 BMW 3 Series Facelift allegedly leaked on Instagram
This is certainly not a good month for the BMW press and marketing teams. After the infamous leak of the future BMW M2 – which has yet to be confirmed by the Bavarians – today, we might have an early look at the facelifted BMW 3 Series. The refreshed 3er is scheduled to arrive in 2022, four years after it made its debut at the Paris Motor Show. The leaked image allegedly points to the facelift, but of course, we can’t confirm it at this moment.
The New G42 2 Series Look Good in Live Photos
The new generation 2 Series Coupe has been publicly unveiled just recently, at the famous Goodwood Festival of Speed. The first series-production models are already out on public roads, with the first example being captured parked on a street in Munich. (We don’t own the photos, so head over here to see them) The G42 is a remarkable, properly done compact coupe with classic traits.
SPIED: The 2023 G09 BMW XM scooped up once again on the Ring
The heavy cladding continues to survive as the future, high-end luxury XM Sports Activity Coupe hits Nurburgring tarmac once again in prototype form. The most impressive X model in history will be officially revealed next year around summer, with the start of production scheduled for December 2022, as per latest rumors.
2022 BMW i4: Now you can configure your dream, electric Gran Coupe
The online configurator for the new BMW i4 (G26) is now up and running on several worldwide BMW websites. So we gave it a try and discovered what the electric Gran Coupe has in store for us in terms of equipment and customization choices. With sales and market launch scheduled for November 2021, it was about time we got a proper configuration of the i4.
2022 BMW 2 Series Coupe - First Real Life Photos
From Munich and Goodwood, we bring you the first real life photos of the all-new 2022 BMW 2 Series Coupe. The first images show an Alpine White in the 220i / 230i variant, while the following shots feature the M240i Coupe in Thundernight Metallic. The BMW 2 Series Coupe is only the second generation of 2 Series but actually the latest in a long line of small, two-door, four-seat, small-engine, everyday sports cars from BMW.
2022 BMW 2 Series Coupe pricing to kick off at $36,350 MSRP in the US
The newly unveiled BMW 2 Series Coupe might look enticing but we’re still pretty far off from seeing it on public roads. Production will kick off later this year and the first models should pop up on a street near you in November. At launch, only two models will be available in the US but they should cover most use-cases anyway. There will be a BMW 230i and a BMW M240i xDrive model on sale and prices will kick off at $36,350 MSRP. That will be for the BMW 230i Coupe.
Photo Comparison: 2022 BMW M240i (G42) vs. BMW M2 (F87)
The new 2022 BMW M240i (G42) was unveiled yesterday, nearly four months before it goes in production. A year later, in December 2022, BMW will introduce the new M2 based on the G42 platform. The G87 M2 is rumored to be the one of the most aggressive-looking M cars ever built with lots of styling cues inspired by BMW racing cars. But ahead of that exciting unveil, we’re going to visually compare the new BMW M240i Coupe with the current generation F87 M2 Coupe.
2022 BMW 2 Series Coupe (G42): Online configurator now available
As the new 2022 BMW 2 Series Coupe has been revealed, the online configurator has also become available on several websites around the world. The range of customization choice is quite impressive, so let’s have a look at what the G42 2 Series has to offer us.
2022 BMW 2 Series Coupe - FIRST VIDEOS
Fresh of the press – so to speak – we bring you the first videos of the all-new 2022 BMW 2 Series Coupe. The G42 generation will go on sale this November with an MSRP of $36,350 for the 2022 BMW 230i Coupe and $48,550 for 2022 BMW M240i xDrive Coupe, plus $995 Destination. The BMW 230i xDrive and the M240i rear-wheel drive will arrive late in the year, latest in early 2022. For this second generation, the 2 Series grew a bit in length, width, wheelbase, and wheel track, although it also got lower.
G42 BMW M240i rear-wheel drive coming later, no manual transmission
BMW has just introduced the all-new 2 Series Coupe G42 generation. At launch time, there will be two models: 220i Coupe for Europe (230i for the U.S.) and the top model M240i xDrive. BMW has omitted to include a lot information on the rear-wheel drive M240i, so we reached out for a comment. According to a BMW of North America spokesperson, the rear-wheel drive M240i will arrive either late this year or early 2022. Same as the xDrive all-wheel drive 230i Coupe.
Thundernight Metallic is the Coolest BMW Color in Years
This new 2 Series is an interesting looking car; it has some very new design elements for BMW, as well as some nods to the past. It’s actually a nice blend of modern and retro styling and I like it quite a bit, despite what the internet tells me. However, my absolute favorite part about it is the availability of Thundernight Metallic paint. In the ’90s and ’00s, BMW was famous for having a variety of killer colors.
Battle of generations: G42 BMW M240i vs. F22 BMW M240i
As the new generation BMW 2 Series Coupe is out and alive, we take a chance to see how the model family evolved between the two generations. The G42 BMW M240i meets its forerunner – the F22 BMW M240i – in a visual comparison. After seeing the new 2 Series Coupe, everyone must admit that BMW played a safe card and went for the classic recipe. First and foremost, we’re getting classic, yet slightly modernized kidneys, inspired by the Z4.
2022 BMW 2 Series Coupe -- Last of the Classic Recipe
The end is nigh for gas-powered, two-door sports cars. To be fair, the internal combustion engine’s days are numbered regardless of vehicle type but, due to relatively low sales figures, two-door sports cars are going to be among the first to go. Which makes this new 2022 BMW 2 Series Coupe a dying breed and almost certainly the last of its kind from the Bavarian brand. Considering that two-door sports cars are sort of what made BMW what it is today, it’s a of a sad realization.
2022 BMW 2 Series Coupe (G42): Superior tech for enhanced driving dynamics
The new generation of the compact 2 Series Coupe is essentially one of the very few puristic models in the BMW portfolio. After the Bavarians decided to underpin most of their compact vehicles with front-wheel drive platform, the G42 model series is now the sole model in the low-end lineup to stay true to the brand’s core values: rear-wheel drive, a perfect 50:50 weight axle balance and legendary 6-cylinder inline powerplants.
Are BMW M Colors Still Named After Race Tracks?
Since the late eighties, BMW M has gone out of their way to ensure that their most special cars receive an equally special color palette accentuating their racing heritage. And when it came to naming these more exclusive colors, it used to be simple – find a racetrack, name a color. But lately enthusiasts (I assume having run out of things to complain about) have noted that colors are no longer following this familiar scheme, but there’s a pretty obvious reason for that.
Column: Is the Gran Coupe a product of necessity?
Imagine, dear reader, that it’s 2013, and you’ve first laid eyes on the puzzling BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe. It’s been released not a year after BMW went to great lengths to convince people of the “even numbers coupe, odd numbers sedan” party chant. And yet…here you are, standing in front of what appears to be a sporty sedan wearing a big old chrome 6 on the back. What gives? The Gran Coupe is a product of necessity. It was in fact Mercedes that drew first blood, not BMW.
VIDEO: 2021 BMW M3 M Steptronic Transmission Explained
The course through the most intricate details of the new BMW M3 and M4 models continues, courtesy of BMW M. After learning about the driveshaft, tires, wheels, engine, and everything else in between, the time has come to take a look at the new M Steptronic Transmission that is used on the Competition models. One of the main complaints some people had about the new M3 and M4 models was that the dual-clutch gearbox that used to be featured on the previous generation versions is no longer available.
[To publish] Special Gallery: Six generations of the BMW M3
With the new M3 and M4 generations out there across many countries, it is time to see them together with the five ancestor generations that came up before and thrilled fans all over the world. The new M3 Sedan and M4 Coupe generation are really the biggest sensation within the current BMW lineup at the moment, causing quite a lot of controversy and passion due to their sheer, polarized exterior design, as well as the sharp, puristic high performance ambitions.
Spy Photos: 2023 BMW 3 Series Sedan hides new Curved Display inside
The G20/G21 3 Series family is bound to receive a mid lifecycle refreshment right in time for 2023 model year. To be precise, BMW will gradually roll out the new BMW iDrive 8 infotainment architecture, following its premiere this year on the new iX and i4.
SPIED: 2023 BMW iX1 (U11) electric SUV scooped for first time
The third generation of the BMW X1 is scheduled to enter stage next year around spring. Together with the U11 generation, the first-ever pure electric version of the compact SAV, dubbed iX1, will also celebrate its premiere towards 2023. As you may know, BMW is currently busy with developing the next generation of some of its front-driven model series, such as the 2 Series Active Tourer (codenamed U06) and the new X1 (codenamed U11).
BMW iX in Sport guise seen out public roads
Compared to other BMW products, the iX electric vehicle hasn’t been spotted as much out on public roads. Most of the iX photos seen so far were part of the BMW press or marketing portfolios, so it’s always refreshing to see what the new BMW iX looks like without the glossy glamour. These new images come from BMW UK showcasing the iX with the M Sport guise and in the Aventurine Red color.
BMW iX M60 top model rumored to make 560hp
A few weeks ago, BMW introduced their new electric crossovers under the iX badge. The BMW iX xDrive40 and xDrive50 will arrive later this year. The entry-level iX packs 70 kWh battery for a range of 400 km (249 miles) and 240 kW (300 horsepower). According to BMW, the xDrive40 will around six seconds to get from 0-60 mph.

The new BMW iX technology flagship has arrived for a photoshoot at BMW Welt in Munich and will likely be displayed once the facility is officially opened to the public. Currently, BMW Welt is closed until March 31st, 2021, given the ongoing pandemic context. Yet, the forthcoming BMW iX has already touched the grounds of BMW Welt. The futuristic design and impressive tech package of the new BMW iX is a perfect match for the modern, individualist architecture of BMW Welt.
WORLD PREMIERE: ALPINA B8 Gran Coupe
ALPINA’s latest model is finally here and it’s the one we’ve been waiting for. After sampling the BMW M8 Gran Coupe, we quickly realized that the 8er’s talents were far better suited for grand touring, rather than full-on performance. So we were impatiently waiting for the reveal of the ALPINA version, so it could finally become the car that it felt like it was meant to be. Now, that day is here and so is the ALPINA B8 Gran Coupe.
BMW iX pre-orders broke record in Norway
BMW Norway opened the order books for the controversially styled iX earlier this week and its launch turned out to be an unprecedented success. The fully electric SUV broke the all-time record for sales in a single day, and while no exact number was provided, it was high enough to allow the iX to earn the title for the most popular model launch in the Nordic country. Mind you, we’re talking about actual preorders rather than reservations, meaning these will actually convert into sales.
AC Schnitzer gives 400 horsepower to the BMW 540i Facelift
Tuning specialist AC Schnitzer has made it its business to push this boundary even further when it comes to stock BMW cars, and today, it presents a complete program for the 5 Series Facelift. And it all starts with a significant power bump in the BMW 540i sedan. AC Schnitzer takes the power output from 245 kW/333 HP to a whopping 400 HP. The top M550i model went through a similar tuning process, now delivering 456 kW/620 HP from 390 kW/530 HP.
