Abstract Cardiolipin (CL) is the signature phospholipid of the inner mitochondrial membrane, where it stabilizes electron transport chain protein complexes1. The final step in CL biosynthesis relates to its remodelling: the exchange of nascent acyl chains with longer, unsaturated chains1. However, the enzyme responsible for cleaving nascent CL (nCL) has remained elusive. Here, we describe ABHD18 as a candidate deacylase in the CL biosynthesis pathway.

Abstract Liver macrophages capture circulating nanoparticles and reduce their delivery to target organs. Serum proteins adsorb to the nanoparticle surface after administration. However, the adsorbed serum proteins and their cognate cell receptors for removing nanoparticles from the bloodstream have not been linked. Here we use a multi-omics strategy to identify the adsorbed serum proteins binding to specific liver macrophage receptors.

Abstract The active transport and retention principle is an alternative mechanism to the enhanced permeability and retention effect for explaining nanoparticle tumour delivery. It postulates that nanoparticles actively transport across tumour endothelial cells instead of passively moving through gaps between these cells. How nanoparticles transport across tumour endothelial cells remains unknown.
