It’s summer in Wyoming, and people across the state are gearing up for an exciting election season as candidates hit the campaign trail. This year, Wyomingites will vote on an open U.S. Senate seat, its lone congressional seat, and all statewide elected positions, including governor. Wyoming is an ultra-conservative state, so at first blush it might seem like a sleepy election cycle with Republicans likely to dominate.

Forty years ago on a spring day in a Chicago suburb, high school senior Ferris Bueller fakes an illness to stay home from school. In the movie, “Ferris Bueller’s Day Off,” Ferris famously said, “Life moves pretty fast. If you don’t stop and look around once in a while, you could miss it.” The same can be said for the Wyoming Legislature’s upcoming 20-day Budget Session, which kicks off on Feb. 9, 2026—it moves really, really fast, and if you don’t pay attention, you could miss it.

A Wyoming legislative committee advanced a bill that would create a right to repair digital electronic equipment—mirroring other states and drawing opposition from original manufacturers. A legislative work group developed the proposed legislation to address the right of consumers and independent technicians to fix their own electronic devices—such as smartphones, laptops, tablets, and more—without being forced to rely solely on the original manufacturer.
