Those looking forward to gaining an hour of sleep this November might soon be out of luck. On July 14, the U.S. House voted in favor of making daylight saving time permanent, ending the need to change the clocks twice a year. H.R. 139, also known as the Sunshine Protection Act of 2025, was filed on Jan. 3, 2025, by Rep. Vern Buchanan, R-Florida. Buchanan has attempted to pass the Sunshine Protection Act in every Congress since 2018.

10 Tennessee high schools win $5,000 grants, compete for $1 million
