If you see this tiny detail on your date's glasses, run
Camera-equipped smart glasses are fun if you just want to take snapshots and social videos on the go and get AI-powered information like translations without taking out your phone. They can be misused, though, and despite security measures to prevent it, pick-up artists, clout chasers, and outright stalkers have started using them to secretly record women without their consent.
Amazon's Echo Show 16 can see everyone walking past your house. That's amazing and terrifying
Amazon's smart home strategy just took a sudden, fascinating turn. At a hands-on media demo in New York, the company unveiled its most ambitious piece of ambient hardware yet: the Echo Show 16, a massive, iPad-like smart display engineered to act as an all-seeing command center for your entire property.

You Don’t Need AI to Dumb Down Your Smart TV. Do This Instead
If you’ve been hesitant about getting a smart TV or have been worried about your TV watching you, I have two pieces of bad news. First, you aren’t going to find a decent TV that doesn’t run a smart TV platform. Second, that platform can almost certainly spy on you in some way. The good news is that you can actually dumb down your smart TV, or at least cut off the parts that are spying on you. It’s probably a lot easier than some of the methods you’ve been hearing about, too.

Sony PlayStation 5 vs. PlayStation 5 Pro: Should you upgrade for GTA 6?
Price: The $250 Difference Neither PlayStation 5 console was cheap to begin with, and they've each gotten more expensive over the years, but one has gone much further than the other. The PS5 Pro would be the most expensive console at its $899 retail price. You probably won't see it for that "little," though, because it's currently only available second-hand at a massive markup. If you want a PS5 Pro right now, get ready to spend between $1,200 and $1,700.
Amazon Kindle (2026) Review: The Same Old Kindle With a Sleeker Design
Amazon's entry-level 6-inch Kindle has finally caught up in design with the rest of the lineup. Swapping plastic borders for a sleek, edge-to-edge glass face—and adding an optional aluminum back—gives the base model a surprisingly high-end feel. Underneath that new shell, however, nothing has changed, so the hardware is still sluggish and lacks waterproofing. It's a substantial cosmetic upgrade, especially if you just want the most affordable Kindle available.
Sony PlayStation 5 vs. PlayStation 5 Pro: Should You Upgrade for GTA 6?
Table of Contents Table of Contents The PlayStation 5 Pro is now $899 in the US, or at least it's supposed to be. Actually finding the upgraded version of the PlayStation 5 at that price is nearly impossible, and used ones are being sold for nearly twice as much. It is more powerful than the two base PS5 models (currently $599 for the digital-only PS5 Slim and $649 for the one with a disc drive), with superior AI upscaling, better ray tracing, and a faster Wi-Fi chip.

Gearing Up for GTA 6? This $1,200 Roku TV Is the Fastest Screen I've Tested
Grand Theft Auto VI is coming out on Nov. 19, and if you're thinking about buying a new TV for the occasion, don't fall for flashy marketing tricks. For the most responsive gameplay possible, you want a TV with low input lag. Back in May, the Samsung S95H ($3,399.99 for 65 inches) earned our first PCMag Lab Award for lowest input lag, and it's still a fantastic TV if you can afford it.
Every Smart TV Platform Compared: Apple TV vs. Fire TV vs. Google TV vs. Roku
Pretty much all TVs are smart TVs now. You won't find any decent TV without media streaming features, and you won't save any money by hunting for one without them. They almost all use one of the following smart TV platforms: Amazon's Fire TV, Apple TV, Google TV, LG's webOS, Roku OS, Samsung's Tizen OS, or Vizio's SmartCast. These platforms all look and behave differently, and their apps and features aren't consistent across them.

The New Apple TV 4K Fixes Every Major Flaw...Except the One That Matters Most
Apple can still find ways to surprise me. At its "Welcome Home" event in NYC, the company announced the fourth-generation Apple TV 4K media streamer, and it delivers two of my biggest requests: hands-free Siri and upgraded connectivity. But instead of making high-end streaming accessible, Apple built a paywall around it: $299. That's a tough sell for casual viewers who can get a fantastic streaming stick for a fraction of that cost.

Ring's First Smart Lock Comes With a Clever Solution for Dead Batteries
Ring has been synonymous with video doorbells and home security cameras for years, but it hasn't really made a way to physically secure front doors with its products until now. The company just announced its first smart lock, and it comes with a (literally) powerful twist. The Ring Smart Lock looks like a standard smart lock equipped with multiple ways to unlock it. You can use an app, Alexa, the built-in fingerprint reader, or the number pad to unlock manually.
This 55-Inch Amazon TV Is 45% Off for Prime Day and It's the Brightest I've Ever Tested
Prime Big Deal Days are here, and Amazon’s best TV is seeing its biggest price drop yet. The flagship Ember Mini-LED TV is down to just $449.99 for the 55-inch size, marking a massive 45% discount off its usual $819.99 list price. Need something bigger? The 65-inch and 75-inch versions are also marked down to $799.99 (27% off) and $999.99 (33% off), respectively. This 75-Inch Hisense 'IMAX Enhanced' TV Is 50% Off Right Now for Prime Day
If you’ve been holding out for a big-screen TV, Hisense just made a compelling case for your hard-earned cash. For Amazon's Prime Big Deal Days, the brand’s new 75-inch U7SG Mini-LED series has dropped to $997.99—a massive 50% chop off its usual $1,999.99 sticker price. While I haven't tested this exact TV in PC Labs, I know Hisense's lineup well and have evaluated many of its adjacent models.
Here's How Much Aura's Android XR-Powered VR Glasses Will Cost
Meta's VR Glasses might have made waves at Meta Connect last month, but they're not the first device of their kind, and they won't be the first to come out. The XReal Aura has been on the way in some form for almost a year and is set to start shipping in a few weeks. Today, XReal revealed pricing for the Aura: $1,279, or $20 less than the $1,299 VR Glasses, which won't come out until spring 2027.
Smart Glasses Deal: One of the Best Pairs I've Tested Is at Its Lowest Price Ever for Prime Day
I've been covering smart glasses of all kinds since they first started gaining traction several years ago. I've watched them develop from shaky tech toys to cutting-edge wearable technology and genuinely useful personal electronics. My favorite kind of smart glasses, and the simplest to get into, are prism display models.
Act Fast, Amazon's Echo Dot Max Is Back Under $100 for Prime Day
If you're a regular Alexa user but don't have Amazon's AI assistant at the ready all over the house yet, now's the time to fix that. I've been reviewing Alexa devices since the first Echo 11 years ago, and my favorite pick among the three currently available Echo smart speakers, the Echo Dot Max, is available for just $79.99 during Amazon's Prime Day event, a 33% discount.

The Best-Looking Samsung Galaxy Watch is $150 Off for Prime Day
I'm not a watch guy, strictly speaking, but I've come to really appreciate their aesthetic in the face of bland, smooth smartwatches (and I have a soft spot for Seiko, particularly my 5 Sports 55th Anniversary Masked Rider Limited Edition). That's why the Samsung Galaxy Watch 8 Classic stood out to me, with its round face and nubbly bezel that physically rotates. It helps that it's an all-around great smartwatch, which is why it's usually $499.99.
This 65-Inch OLED Is the Fastest TV We've Tested and It's Only $799 on Prime Day
I've been testing TVs for over a decade, and OLEDs have consistently stood out as my favorite type. They're ultra-slim, have great contrast and color, and, unlike mini-LED TVs, they precisely control how much light each pixel emits, so there's no light bloom. Roku just launched its first OLED TV, the Pro Series OLED, and during Amazon's Prime Day event October 6 and 7 the 65-inch version is available for just $799.99. That's $400 off its usual $1,199.99, and it's ridiculously cheap for an OLED.
Prime Day Deal Alert: One of My Favorite Gaming Headsets Is an Instant Buy at $92 Off
I've reviewed a lot of gaming headsets, and one of my longtime favorites is available at a big discount for Amazon's Prime Big Deal Days. Today and tomorrow, you can get the PC/Xbox version of the SteelSeries Arctis Nova Pro Wireless for just $237.48, an impressive $92 off its launch price ($329.99). This is a fantastic headset for pretty much anyone, and I've seldom seen it for less than $300. Not a Prime Member?

Skip the Expensive Frame TV: How to Turn Any Screen Into a Free Art Gallery
Your TV screen doesn't have to be a blank black rectangle when you turn off a show. Ambient modes can instantly transform your display into a large digital picture frame, but you shouldn't have to pay a recurring fee or compromise on AI-generated filler to get great art. Luckily, world-renowned museums offer a far better alternative: vast, free digital archives full of high-resolution, public-domain masterpieces.

The 5 Best Tech Deals From Hisense, Roborock, and Samsung for the Weekend Before Prime Day

Up Close With Amazon's New Kindles: Sleek Aluminum, Flat Bezels, and Page-Turn Buttons Are Back
Amazon is refreshing almost its entire ereader line, rolling out new versions of the base Kindle, Paperwhite, and Colorsoft. I spent time with the updated Kindle lineup at Amazon's New York offices, and while the new bodies are undeniably sleeker, very little has changed under the hood. The real highlights might actually be the new accessories—especially if you've been longing for physical page-turn buttons. Here's a closer look at what's new, what isn't, and my first impressions.

$2,195 for Smart Glasses? Snap's New Specs Are an Engineering Marvel...With Two Massive Flaws
Snap officially launched its new Specs, lifting the curtain on a surprisingly robust feature set and a high-profile lineup of launch partners. With self-contained processing powering motion tracking, environment scanning, and gesture controls, these might be the most technically ambitious smart glasses on the market—easily outpacing the $799 (about AED 2,935 / SAR 2,995) Meta Ray-Ban Display in pure hardware sophistication.
80 Hours Into Fire Emblem: Fortune's Weave, I'm Confused But Having Fun
I have a confession to make, as a tech/video game journalist: I’m more than 80 hours into Fire Emblem: Fortune’s Weave ($69.99) on the Nintendo Switch 2, and I’m still not sure how to play it. You can stop reading and jump to the bottom of the page to comment on that statement right now before I explain why. Get it out of your system? Great. Obsbot Meet Flip Review: The Ultimate Ultra-Portable 4K Webcam
It’s a shame Obsbot already used the Tiny name for its gimbal-mounted webcam line, because the $119 Meet Flip is far smaller than any of them. It gives up motorized pan-and-tilt in favor of a matchbook-sized design that can be tossed in any bag or pocket with ease. Its diminutive form belies its excellent performance, capturing bright, sharp 4K video and incredibly clear sound. It easily earns our Editors’ Choice award for the best ultra-portable webcam.

HTC's New Smart Glasses Offer a Few Imperfect Fixes for the Pervert Problem
Privacy and smart glasses should go hand in hand, and with the $499 Vive Eagle AI (roughly AED 1,775 in the UAE and SAR 1,813 in Saudi Arabia via GCC retailers at the time of writing), HTC seems to realize that. It's clear the company wants to avoid the "pervert glasses" stigma that Meta's smart glasses have earned, and it's taking notable steps toward that end, though the built-in camera remains on the Vive Eagle AI.

'Pervert Glasses' Are Ruining Wearable Tech. The Best Smart Frames Ditch Cameras Entirely
