Introduction The fitness of plants is commonly evaluated by their abundance, size, germinability of seeds, number of flowers, photosynthetic efficiency or plant biomass. Changing landscapes and increasing human impact influence orchid populations and their fitness worldwide (Kull et al. 2016). Orchid pollination is often one-sided and specialised, with the orchid relying more on its pollinator than vice versa (Tremblay 1992, Roberts and Dixon 2008, Joffard et al. 2019).
