He recalls a newsroom where the two fax machines were “hopping” day and night and email wasn’t in use. Mobile phones were only beginning to become ‘a thing’, while social media as we know it today simply did not exist. Facebook and Bebo arrived a year or two later and were seen as exciting, and a totally new way to stay connected.
