Trends in hospital admissions and prescribing due to chronic obstructive pulmonary disease and asthma in England and Wales between 1999 and 2020: an ecological study | BMC Pulmonary Medicine | Full Text

More than 500,000 thousands cases of respiratory disease, including COPD and asthma, are diagnosed annually in the UK [23]. This study aimed to estimate the trend of hospital admission associated with COPD and asthma in the UK from 1999 to 2020; moreover, we describe the type of prescriptions for COPD and asthma. Our study showed that the admission rates of COPD and asthma in England and Wales increased by an average of 3.9% each year.
