Born and raised in New York, I have made Europe my home for the past decade.
Since 2007, I have applied my broad knowledge of art, film, music and history to major cultural events and developments, providing a mix of news, criticism and commentary intended to shine a light on the role of culture and the arts in contemporary European society.
I have reported on many of Europe’s essential cultural institutions and festivals, from the passion play at Oberammergau to the new Jewish Museum in Warsaw. I have travelled to Europe’s major museums, and many smaller ones, to review exhibits of all stripes. In the realm of music and opera, I have written about many of Europe’s leading opera houses, concert halls and music festivals. At Europe’s major three film festivals (Cannes, Berlin and Venice), I have discovered the best of contemporary cinema and profiled numerous actors and directors.
I have conducted interviews with an equally wide-ranging list of artists, from Werner Herzog to Cecilia Bartoli and from John Malkovich to Daniel Barenboim.
