Godrej Industries enters private credit with $209 mn fund

New Delhi, Aug. 18 -- Godrej Industries Group said Tuesday it has entered India's growing private credit market with its maiden alternative investment fund that will make debt investments in local companies. The group, via its asset management arm, has launched a fund that seeks to raise as much as Rs 2,000 crore (around $209 million). This comprises a base corpus of Rs 1,000 crore and a greenshoe option of an equal amount.

Pahal Financial in talks to acquire PE-backed troubled NBFC

New Delhi, Aug. 17 -- Pahal Financial Services Pvt Ltd, a microfinance-focussed non-bank lender backed by impact investors such as GAWA Capital and Proparco, is close to acquiring a troubled non-bank lender, three people familiar with the matter told VCCircle. Ahmedabad-based Pahal, which also counts Base of Pyramid Asia (BoPA) and Dia Vikas Capital amongst its investors, lends primarily to low-income women in rural and semi-urban India through microfinance and MSME loans.

Keertana Finserv raises $24 mn in maiden external funding round

New Delhi, Aug. 17 -- Keertana Finserv, has raised Rs 230 crore (around $24 million) from asset management firm Neo Wealth Partners in its first external equity funding round. The Hyderabad-headquartered non-bank lender said it largely raised the capital through compulsorily convertible preference shares (CCPS). The investment will strengthen Keertana's capital base and support its next phase of expansion across its gold loan business, according to a press note.
