Unfortunately, the implementation/coding of one of the 10 settling velocity models tested in this paper (Yu et al., M3) was erroneous. In fact, the model provides more accurate results for predicting the settling velocities of small MPs than originally stated. Additionally, eq 4 contained a typographical error. 2. Materials and Methods 2.1. Chemicals Sodium chromate, chromium trichloride hexahydrate, ferrous sulphate heptahydrate, sodium nitrate, potassium dihydrogenphosphate, hydrochloric acid (32%), sodium hydroxide (5 M), nitric acid (65%), and sodium chloride were purchased from Merck (Darmstadt, Germany). All chemicals were analytical grade, except nitric acid which was suprapur. Stock solutions were produced in relatively high concentrations and stored in a fridge.
