Ukraine’s Reconstruction
Rebuilding Ukraine, with an estimated cost of around $1 trillion, will be an unprecedented undertaking given the massive scale and uncertain environment. As the United States and our friends and allies respond to Russia’s unprovoked invasion of Ukraine, we must ask and answer a critical question: Why should this aggressor be allowed to participate in — and disrupt — the workings of the institutions established after World War II to maintain peace and security, advance human development and promote economic stability?

Each vaccine administered is a bed saved
Each vaccine administered is a bed saved Alan Larson During the past week, I have watched in disbelief as local cases of COVID-19 have climbed in our hospital and across our community once again. Our current COVID-19 situation is worse today than it was in January, and like many hospitals across the region, we are operating at the edge of our capacity.
MY WORD: Vaccination volunteers help us move forward
MY WORD: Vaccination volunteers help us move forward Larson With the opening of the community vaccination center at the Danville Mall, I wanted to publicly acknowledge and recognize what makes our communities unique. Sovah Health has only been one part of our vaccine response team. To name them all would be extensive. Watching the volunteerism of so many in our communities has been heart-warming.

Only a global response can quell pandemic and economic slump [Opinion]
America’s political leaders overcame political differences to enact $2 trillion in national economic support bill, while the Federal Reserve took historic steps to assure liquidity for the economy to address COVID-19. Important steps for sure, but a bigger challenge lies around the corner. This is a global pandemic causing global economic crisis; the United States must reassert its world economic leadership to protect our citizens and people everywhere from a deep, damaging recession worldwide.

Our team at Sovah Health is committed to delivering high-quality, safe and compassionate care, and we are continuously working to ensure that all patients, visitors and employees have positive experiences at our hospitals in Danville and Martinsville.
USTR Releases a Third Proposed List of Tariffs on $200 Billion in Chinese Imports
Last night, the Office of the U.S. Trade Representative (“USTR”) released a new proposed list of $200 billion worth of products from China that could face an additional 10 percent ad valorem tariff. The list covers 6,031 product categories, including a multitude of consumer goods such as luggage, tires, furniture, apparel, mattresses, household goods, components in telephones and flat panel displays and more.
Regional collaboration strengthens our community hospitals, despite impending changes - Chatham Star Tribune: Opinion
Daily, we are inundated with news from various sources about the shifts and uncertainty happening in healthcare. We see the growing uncertainty in Washington with the planned repeal and replacement of the Affordable Care Act. We read about our elected officials in Richmond debating for and against Medicaid expansion. We hear about the challenges that patients are facing with changing insurance coverage, networks and deductibles.
Imagine Danville: A crime free community - Chatham Star Tribune: Opinion
I’m also impressed that Danville has the reputation as “The City of Churches.” Recently our Danville Police chief, Philip Broadfoot, shared some encouraging statistics that violent crime is declining in our community. However, in the short time I have lived here, there have been over 25 gunshot and stabbing victims seen in the Emergency Room (ER) at Danville Regional Medical Center (DRMC). One act of violent crime is one too many. This most recent shooting of one of my team is disheartening.
