Abstract Biologically active supplements (BAS) based on plant material, possessing a wide range of beneficial properties (antioxidant, anti-inflammatory, antimicrobial, etc.), are becoming increasingly popular worldwide. Such supplements are readily available and can be used without consulting a healthcare professional. Consequently, the extent of their use is underestimated by doctors. Plant hepatotoxicity is not uncommon, but the frequency and manifestation are not sufficiently characterized.
