1. Introduction The cardiovascular system relies on two physiological systems: the myocardial contractility and the electrical excitation conduction through the cardiac tissue. The myocardial contractility enables blood pumping, while the electrical excitation ensures synchronized heart muscle contraction. Most cardiovascular arrhythmias result from disturbances in excitation conduction, leading to uncoordinated muscle fiber contraction.
