Alex Adams’s Biography

I am an independent scholar, and I write academic and journalistic pieces about the representation of securitization, including torture, surveillance, and drone warfare.

I completed my PhD in English Literature and Film at Newcastle University in 2014. Since that time, I have published two books - Political Torture in Popular Culture (Routledge, 2016) and How to Justify Torture (Repeater, 2019) - and several peer-reviewed book chapters and journal articles. In addition to my academic work, I write journalistic pieces and, for a bit of light relief, monster movie commentary.
