A number of firetrucks were seen on Duluth’s eastern side, as crews worked to repair a gas line that was hit. City officials tell WDIO that a contractor hit a gas line on London Road and 45th Avenue East, as construction work is underway. Duluth Public Works & Utilities staff were dispatched to the location. Crews have since mitigated the leak and as of 6:00pm Monday, were making the necessary repairs. Traffic is flowing again on London Road and the City tells us there is no danger to the public.

Enbridge and the Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources (DNR) say there was a drilling fluid spill near Vaughn Creek and nearby forested wetlands in Wisconsin on Saturday. Enbridge says the fluid is a naturally occurring clay and water mixture that’s being used for a scheduled horizontal directional drill (HDD). Enbridge estimates about eight gallons of drilling fluid entered Vaughn Creek and between 1,500 and 1,900 gallons entered the forested wetland.

The Carlton County Sheriff’s Office says there’s an active and ongoing drug investigation. A search warrant was executed Thursday at a home in Barnum, with no arrests made. The warrant was executed without injury, incident, or disruption to the community.
