North Carolina has named Billy Edwards Jr. as the Tar Heels’ starting quarterback for the upcoming 2026 college football season, On3’s Pete Nakos confirmed on Tuesday. The decision resolves a months-long competition that dates back to Spring practice and comes just ahead of the Tar Heels’ season-opener against TCU in Ireland.
