Freelance journalist, op-ed writer, and communications faculty member at Harvard Kennedy School. Bylines in the Atlantic, Boston Globe, and TeenVogue. Formerly east coast correspondent at Publishers Weekly.

What does it mean to be a journalist?

Compassion for the importance of navigating and sharing stories that readers would otherwise never know.

How do you prefer to be pitched on stories?

I prefer to be pitched by e-mail and while a lengthy pitch isn't necessary, a couple of paragraphs often helps a lot.

What story are you most proud of writing or working on?

I'm most proud of my piece on the treatment of so-called "enemy aliens" with disabilities at the Walter E. Fernald State School during WWII.
