The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration's most recent statistics on large truck crashes are out, and there's good news: 2.5% fewer fatalities. The latest data cover calendar year 2024, when there were 5,340 people killed in traffic crashes involving large trucks, down from 5,478 in 2023, which itself was down 8% from 5,959 in 2022. The 5,340 statistic includes 920 large truck occupants killed in crashes -- also down from a 2022 high of 1,098.
