The LGPS operates as a defined benefit scheme, providing pension income based on career average earnings and length of service.
Legal sector not embracing remote roles, study finds
Only 4.8% of the 6,323 new legal job listings in 2025 were fully remote, according to data shared by equity management platform Vestd. And while the legal sector sits marginally above the national industry average of 4.75% – coming in at 12th place in Vestd’s ranking of 29 industries – job seekers cited remote working flexibility as the second most important factor when looking for a new role.
Probate fraud allegations emerge in £27.8m estate dispute
The High Court has received allegations of probate fraud in proceedings between the children of motor racing legend Sir Stirling Moss over the £27.8 million estate of his widow, Lady Susie Moss, who died in 2023 (the couple pictured in 2015). The dispute involves Sir Stirling’s daughter from his second marriage, Allison Bradley, and his son from his third marriage to Lady Moss, Stirling Elliot Moss. Following the death of Sir Stirling Moss in 2020, most of his estate passed to his third wife.

The Ministry of Justice has launched a consultation to gather feedback on proposed revisions to the Victims’ Code, including the creation of a child-specific version written in age appropriate language. The proposed changes seek to introduce 12 fundamental principles covering victims’ entitlements throughout the criminal justice process. Family arbitration use doubles as court delays mount
Family arbitrations in England and Wales have doubled in the last two years, according to figures from the Institute of Family Law Arbitrators. In 2025 there were 178 arbitrations, up from 89 in 2023, with the option becoming more popular as the family court system continues to face significant resource pressures. The surge follows the changes to court rules in 2024, which required divorcing couples to attempt alternative forms of dispute resolution before proceeding to court.

English Dub Review: Space Battleship Tiramisu “Lost Memory/Tragedy in the Liquid Room”
I’m not a fan of that awkwardly long title, but the episode is even worse. Sadly, my concern that the cliffhanger from “Holy Night Scramble/Dim Memory” would give Space Battleship Tiramisu an identity crisis has come true. This week’s installment simply doesn’t feel like the same show, instead offering a relatively straightforward sci-fi narrative that fails to justify its own existence.
English Dub Review: Devils’ Line “Dogmatic”
Devils’ Line hints at yet another mystery but still feels muddled. We’re six episodes into the season and I can’t believe I’m asking this: do the general public know that devils exist or not? Just when it seemed as though Devils’ Line was establishing some interesting ideas about the marginalization of devils in society, “Dogmatic” contradicts this development by instead suggesting a widespread coverup of their existence.
English Dub Review: Doreiku the Animation “Bewilderment”
Given how quiet they’ve been the past few weeks, I’d almost started to take Eia and Yuuga’s partnership for granted. In fact, I was initially surprised by just how much “Bewilderment” focused on Doreiku’s leads, which must sound like an issue. Yet from what we’ve seen so far, the regular changes in focus have done wonders for fleshing out the show’s world, particularly since it excels at connecting its plot threads.
English Dub Review: Space Battleship Tiramisu “Holy Night Scramble/Dim Memory”
There’s no better time for a Christmas special than the middle of May! By Space Battleship Tiramisu’s standards, there’s a lot going on here. After “Drifting Without Side Dishes” failed to fully justify its existence, this week’s installment reiterated that a two-story approach is what works best given the show, and Subaru’s, short attention spans. For the most part, anyway, but I’ll get to that shortly.
English Dub Review: Devils’ Line “Plan B”
An uneven Devils’ Line takes too long to decide on a focal point. There are benefits and downsides to Anzai and Tsukasa’s reunion this week. Firstly, Devils’ Line is always better with more Anzai, and having the show’s leads share a majority of scenes theoretically helps to declutter plot threads. However, their moments alone here were far too tacky and slow for my taste; I haven’t had to make Twilight comparisons since the premiere, but the similarities were painfully obvious in “Plan B”.
English Dub Review: Space Battleship Tiramisu “Drifting Without Side Dishes”
Let’s talk about the pros and cons of a double-length story. “Drifting Without Side Dishes” is the first time that Space Battleship Tiramisu has dedicated its entire runtime to a single plot. It’s a slightly confusing decision given how much this feels like any other episode, not that there’s anything inherently wrong with that.
English Dub Review: Doreiku the Animation “Abuse”
A grim, violent episode of Doreiku explores SCM use beyond its familiar faces. I certainly didn’t see that coming. Forget everything you think you know about the structure of a Doreiku episode. “Abuse” casts Eia and Yuuga’s story aside in favor of worldbuilding; while this show has never struggled to convey its distinct setting, I’ll never say no to the opportunity to learn more when it comes to sci-fi.
English Dub Review: Space Battleship Tiramisu “Stand in the Universe/I’m Not Alone”
Somehow, Subaru talking to a pube isn’t this week’s obvious standout scene. For the first time since “Fly in Space/Naked Dance”, Space Battleship Tiramisu embraces a winning combination of absurdity and melodrama this week. Indeed, the first half alone creates greater tension from Subaru needing to pee in the middle of a battle with an enemy fleet than from the battle itself.
English Dub Review: Devils’ Line “Paradox”
This week it all ends with a bang. “Paradox” features the most worldbuilding of a single Devils’ Line episode yet, which unsurprisingly makes it the show’s strongest installment. Details such as the devil population of Tokyo and the varying awareness of its existence among the public suggest that the main focus moving forward will be Anzai’s detective work; let’s be honest, it seems far more interesting than a simple love story.
Review: Highly Gifted “Spartuchus”
This week’s Highly Gifted is more than crappy, it’s downright forgettable. After a strong episode, last week that appeared to realize character and interaction-driven humor is where Highly Gifted excels, “Spartuchus” opens on Dave in class, really needing to take a shit. It’s a simple premise that doesn’t need to be expanded upon, a sentiment clearly shared by the writers since we’re only given an oblique reference to some pappadums Dave ate earlier causing his predicament.
English Dub Review: Doreiku the Animation ‘Shackles’
I give Doreiku’s second episode two thumbs up. Doreiku’s premiere provided a glimpse of the SCM in practice through a bleak subplot, and the same ideas return in ‘Shackles’. Sadly, Lucie is nowhere to be seen; instead, club host Seiya and his number one customer Ayaka show just how fucked up an enslavement device can make things and how fast (very).
English Dub Review: Space Battleship Tiramisu “Blueness/The Last Volume”
Compared to its stunning premiere, more recent installments of Space Battleship Tiramisu have shown the consequences of their short runtime. Unfortunately, this comes at the cost of anything resembling a story, with the show clearly being content to simply let funny things happen around Subaru and assume everything will fall into place.
English Dub Review: Devils’ Line “Safe House”
Devils’ Line is a prime candidate for the title of this week’s ‘Most Improved Series’. I called it. Despite my feelings towards its premiere, it was still obvious that Devils’ Line had room to improve rather than being dismissed. Fortunately, ‘Safe House’ features plenty of subtle course corrections that prove just how discerning the suggestions we gave last week were.
Review: Highly Gifted “Boner Party”
It was going so well. Even by Highly Gifted’s standards, ‘Boner Party’ has an absurd premise: Dave and his friends are at the beach when an embarrassing problem arises for the guys. Although I’ve seen the broader joke done before (Steve from American Dad! seems to find himself in similar situations constantly), this specific setting felt fresh and had a greater impact on the episode than I’d anticipated.
English Dub Review: Doreiku the Animation “Choice”
Find out why I’m throwing out my old retainer. If only HiDive used a Netflix release model. Doreiku’s first episode does an outstanding job of emphasising the mystery surrounding its premise, which above all left me keen for more. I technically have a rough idea of how the SCM mind control devices work now (scary retainers), yet at the same time I’m also confused in the best way possible. Where do SCMs come from? How many do most people own? Do you die if you leave it out?
English Dub Review: Space Battleship Tiramisu “My Cute Puppy/Do Not Disturb”
It’s becoming obvious why Subaru loves his cockpit so much. This week’s Space Battleship Tiramisu is far more subdued than its hilarious premiere, instead of packing an impressive amount of worldbuilding into a brief runtime. I previously suggested that a greater focus on life aboard the Tiramisu itself would be useful given Subaru’s obvious distaste for it, and ‘Do Not Disturb’ in particular provides this context brilliantly.
English Dub Review: Devils’ Line “Dark Side”
Even for a series about vampires, HiDive’s latest anime sucks. In the world of Devils’ Line, there’s an entire police squad for vampire (or ‘devil’)-related crime. This premiere episode quickly introduces a recent series of murders with clear supernatural connections: the victims each have bite marks on their necks and are surrounded by blood. Honestly, it seems like there should be an even greater sense of urgency from the authorities.
Review: Highly Gifted “Ride”
The opening to this weeks Highly Gifted is a surprisingly faithful homage to the 2011 Ryan Gosling vehicle, featuring a lush synth-heavy score over neon backdrops and titles. Even though there’s more style than substance to the reference it’s a bold change for this show, certainly ranking among my favorite moments of the season so far. In my opinion, the sequence should either have gone for longer or had a greater impact on the rest of the episode.
ENGLISH DUB REVIEW: SPACE BATTLESHIP TIRAMISU “FLY IN SPACE/NAKED DANCE”
Full disclosure: I thought that Space Battleship Tiramisu’s short episode length meant that there simply wouldn’t be enough time for it to be memorable. I don’t think I’ve ever been so happy about being wrong. In a mere 7 minutes, the viewer not only has a basic introduction to the extra-terrestrial threat Earth faces but gains a spectacularly well-realized insight into Tiramisu’s bizarre protagonist: Subaru Ichinose.
COMICS REVIEW: SUPERMANSION #1
Crackle’s League of Freedom makes the leap to print with (mostly) super results. The idea of SuperMansion comics makes a lot of sense to me, if only because stop-motion is such a grueling process that the team would surely welcome a change of pace. With all due respect to the animated series, it’s difficult to imagine pulling off this issue’s story in the show’s style, which is a promising indication of how the writers can make the comics their own distinct entity moving forward.
English Dub Review: Doreiku ‘Shackles’
I give Doreiku’s second episode two thumbs up. Doreiku’s premiere provided a glimpse of the SCM in practice through a bleak subplot, and the same ideas return in ‘Shackles’. Sadly, Lucie is nowhere to be seen; instead club host Seiya and his number one customer Ayaka show just how fucked up an enslavement device can make things and how fast (very).
Review: Highly Gifted “Smokey”
Unsurprisingly, not only has Dave never smoked weed before, he’s super bad at it. It was pleasing to see Highly Gifted’s title finally addressed this week, with the most explicit contrast yet between its leading man’s nerdiness and his failures in every other aspect of life. Based on prior knowledge it makes sense for Dave to be stressed about an upcoming report, but actually showing this is more helpful to our understanding of his character.
English Dub Review: Doreiku ‘Choice’
Find out why I’m throwing out my old retainer. This was my first time using HIDIVE, and how I wish they used a Netflix release model. Doreiku’s first episode does an outstanding job of emphasizing the mystery surrounding its premise, which above all left me keen for more. This is primarily because I have a rough idea of how the SCM mind control devices work now (scary retainers), yet at the same time, I’m also confused in the best way possible. Where do SCMs come from? How many do most people own?
English Dub Review: Jojo's Bizarre Adventure: Stardust Crusaders “Bast's Mariah Pt. 2“
As Joseph and Avdol attempt to detach themselves from each other due to being affected by Mariah’s Bast Stand which left them both magnetized, it leads to a slew of comedic awkwardness & embarrassment in the process, as exemplified in various scenes such as Joseph suggesting they walk to a wooden fence to separate making them look like they’re dancing, or when Avdol having to move downward which puts him in a suggestive pose infront of a group of young strangers, only to later roll down a...
English Dub Review: Karakai Jozu No Takagi-san "Cat / Taste / Portrait / Fortune Telling / Critical"
Nishikata can’t even pet a cat without being made fun of by Takagi. Whether it’s in portrait drawing class or cleaning a classroom, Takagi always gets the upper hand. (Even when she throws a game of rock-paper-scissors, she still wins in the end.) Is Nishikata destined to continue on being teased with no end in sight? Or will he finally realize the reasons behind Takagi’s teasing? This episode was a solid step up comedy-wise from the past several episodes, I think.
Blu-Ray Review: THE ROBOT CHICKEN WALKING DEAD SPECIAL: LOOK WHO’S WALKING
Besides the specials, it’s a rare treat when we get a Robot Chicken home release. In what used to be a yearly event, the usually jam-packed Robot Chicken home releases are fewer and far between which is a real shame because the producers do a hell of a job of giving us good bang for our buck. Likewise, THE ROBOT CHICKEN WALKING DEAD SPECIAL: LOOK WHO’S WALKING Blu-Ray has some killer special features.
Review: Alvinnn!!! and the Chipmunks “Temporary Mom”
Due to a business trip that Dave is taking for the weekend, the boys get stuck with the well-intentioned yet absent-minded Miss Miller as their babysitter which results in them taking matters into their own hands to find a replacement online.
English Dub Review: Hakata Tonkotsu Ramens "Brawl"
The past has caught up with Ling, and now he needs to make a life changing choice. Hakata Tonkotstu Ramens comes in hot this week, as Feilang and Shunsuke face off in a battle to the death. Their fighting is fierce, a vicious blend of agility and cunning, but soon Shunsuke has Feilang on the ropes. That is until a surprise gunshot from one of Feilang’s agents knocks the ninja assassin off a cliff into the river below.

English Dub Review: Dragon Ball Super ”Zamasu and Black: The Duo's Mystery Deepens“
Zamasu is bullying the shit out of Zuno for info regarding the Super Dragon Balls, but is told by Zuno to wait for one year to use them again due to Beerus previously using them. In response to this, Zamasu demands the current locations of every Super Dragon Ball, along with every piece of info there is to know about Goku.
W2W2nite 4/8/18: FOX ; Showtime ; Adult Swim
Tooooonight, we’ve got the last episodes of Tyson and Trump for a while and the series premiere for Ballmastrz:9009! Gene gets invited to his first sleepover, and things don’t go as planned; Bob and Linda record themselves while sleeping to prove who snores more. In an attempt to bring the family together, Marge forces everyone to give up electronics for the day and take a trip to a bookstore.
Review: Nomad of Nowhere “The Twindleweed Brothers Traveling Circus”
A tiny yellow lizard avoids certain death before finding refuge in a three-eyed skull AND being found by the Nomad. In a flash, a circus surrounds them and forms a tent, unfurling a banner labeled “The Tremendous Twindleweed Brothers’ Traveling Circus”, and followed by many stampeding patrons making their way to the tent while being guided by a triumphant and marketable voice. The Nomad, noticing a sign advertising the attractions as “magic” decides to take a look.
English Dub Review: Basilisk: The Ouka Ninja Scrolls "Like a Rhinoceros"
This week, we discover the enormous weight Shikibu carries. The Kouga and Iga ninjas meet to discuss their battle plans against the Joujinshuu for the last time before the assault. Things are going smoothly until Shikibu’s armor springs a fastener and has to go be repaired. Negoro insists that he take a look at the armor, and brings Hibiki and Hachisu along as well. Negoro takes a look at Shikibu and realizes his muscles have grown, and his armor needs to be resized.
Review: Highly Gifted “Albertsauce”
Highly Gifted delivers its best episode since the pilot through a renewed focus on its leading man. Three separate episodes of Highly Gifted have now suggested, if not outright confirmed, that Dave Alberts is kind of a dick. While ‘Do Nerds Dream of Electric Sex?’ stumbled for me by explicitly telling us this point rather than showing it with Dave’s actions, this week returned to the portrayal of a teen venting his frustration at being undersexed and over-bullied.
English Dub Review: Katana Maidens: Toji no Miko "A Single Sword"
The episode begins immediately as Kanami & Hiyori take on the Aradama-powered Yukari, while Erin and Kaoru wake up from the ass-kicking they got the last episode from Yume, and move on to meet up with at the Temple where the Yukari battle is taking place, while Mai and Sayaka seem tied up with their fight with Yomi.
English Dub Review: Junji Ito Collection “Smashed/Rumors”
A group of friends try some secret nectar. Elsewhere, there are some strange rumors circling about Souichi. Smashed is all about addiction, and ignoring every warning that can come your way. A man ventures into the tropics and returns to Japan with a container of mysterious nectar. The nectar is so potent that it destroys all sense of taste so that the consumer becomes highly dependent on it, to the point that they can’t eat anything else.
Review: Craig of the Creek “Sunday Clothes”
Due to a mishap involving a pond, JP dirties his last clean outfit and ends up wearing his “Sunday best” dress clothes to the creek which leads to some comical situations. This was a fun episode. Outside of being the dumb-yet lovable dolt of Craig’s trio, we learn that JP has an older sister named Laura who works at a hospital and we’re left to assume that Laura is a nurse judging from her medical scrubs.
Home Release Previews: ‘Tsukigakirei’ ; ‘Twin Star Exorcists’
Two anime previews you need to know about. TsukigaKirei the Complete Series, “The Moon Is Beautiful,” contains episodes 1-12 of the anime which was directed by Seiji Kishi. Falling in love is a complicated matter, especially for third-year middle schoolers Kotarou Azumi and Akane Mizuno who live in totally different worlds.
BubbleAUS: Psychotown from Aussie ‘Bin Chickens’ creators ordered by FX
Big news for anyone keen on more from Backseat Rebel. The team behind Bin Chickens, the best of last year’s animated Fresh Blood shows (in our humble opinion), have officially started work on their first American animated series for FX. Psychotown is a continuation of a series of single-scene shorts which first premiered in 2008, at the 4th edition of Mike Judge’s ‘The Animation Show’.
