Andrew Indorf Poised For Breakout Season With Towson Football
Towson football was the right program at the right time for quarterback Andrew Indorf, the 2024 Florida Class 5A Football Player of the Year and Broward 7A-5A Football Offensive Player of the Year with national powerhouse St. Thomas Aquinas. Indorf helped the Raiders win three state titles during his high school career, but he was rated as a two-star recruit by Rivals. Regardless, he found his next calling in Baltimore County with the Tigers.
Lisa Costello Retires With Pride To Cap Three-Decade Run With Towson Softball
Thirty-three years. That’s how long Lisa Costello coached Towson softball, two years as an assistant coach and the last 31 years at the helm. Costello has been the head coach for more than 60 percent of Towson softball’s entire existence, which dates back to 1976. Her three-plus decades of excellence in Baltimore County came to a close when the coach officially retired in early May. She has been enjoying time off since then. “It’s hard to put into words,” Costello said.

Dylan Melton Comes Back From Multiple Injuries To Help UMBC Baseball
The feelings for UMBC redshirt freshman first baseman Dylan Melton coming into the 2026 season were different in the best way possible. “I literally couldn’t be happier,” Melton said. “I just feel so grateful to be able to be playing.” His feelings of joy are more than warranted, having suffered a torn ACL in his left knee ahead of his freshman season in 2024 and then the same in his right knee before the 2025 campaign. Recovering from a torn ACL once is in itself a long, arduous process.
Patterson Mill Grad Madison Knight Relishes Her Final Season With Syracuse Softball
What a career it has been so far for Syracuse softball senior Madison Knight, a Belcamp native and Patterson Mill High School graduate. In 2023, she became just the second player in program history to be named to the ACC All-Freshman team. She has been perhaps Syracuse’s best pitcher since she came to campus, posting a career 3.33 ERA and 362 strikeouts through 98 appearances and 471.1 innings pitched entering the Orange’s doubleheader against Colgate.

Johns Hopkins Baseball HC Nate Mulberg Ready For Task Of Following Bob Babb
Long coaching tenures still occur in sports, but careers that span 20, 30 or even 40 or more years have become less and less common. Johns Hopkins head coach Bob Babb was an exception to the rule. One of the greatest college baseball coaches ever, Babb finished a 46-year tenure with the Blue Jays last season. Babb finished his career with 1,346 wins, 19 Centennial Conference championships and seven trips to the Division III College World Series.

Zanai Barnett-Gay Continues Commitment To Navy Women's Basketball
In the current era of college athletics, player compensation and the transfer portal have become the name of the game. What was once a more regimented landscape of athletics has turned essentially into a free-agent frenzy, with players moving around without having to sit out a year and schools, boosters and NIL collectives offering hefty financial incentives to get players to play for their respective institutions. However, athletic programs at service academies are largely insulated.
Jean Germain Steps Up As Leader Along Offensive Line For Towson Football
It has been a long road for Towson graduate offensive lineman Jean Germain, one that first began upon his arrival to campus back in 2019. “I’ve been here for a few years and it wasn’t all the easiest,” Germain said. Germain made just one appearance as a freshman, eventually redshirting the year only to miss the entire 2020 season due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

Myles Brodie Goes From Walk-On To All-Conference Standout For Towson Football
Cornerback Myles Brodie had two schools in mind after he moved on from Division III Alvernia University (Pa.) ahead of the 2022 season, but he had no guarantees presented to him. “I didn’t think I would be able to play football when I transferred,” Brodie said. “I didn’t come from the recruiting process, coaches calling me, et cetera. I bet on myself.” The Hyattsville native had to choose between Morgan State and Towson. He headed to Baltimore County to don the black and gold.
Now In MLB Draft League, Former Maryland INF Eddie Hacopian Seeks Shot At Pro Ball
Former Maryland infielder Eddie Hacopian put together one of the best seasons in program history as a junior in 2024, hitting .377/.474/.573 with nine homers and 51 RBIs. He had built on the success of his sophomore year, seemingly positioning himself perfectly to head to pro ball. He prepared accordingly as July came around, hosting an MLB Draft party with close friends and family. However, as the rounds went by, Hacopian’s phone remained cold: no calls, no contact from MLB teams.

A freshman getting to the New Jersey State Interscholastic Athletic Association (NJSIAA) State Wrestling Championships is impressive as is. Delran's Jackson Weller did just that last winter, winning one match in wrestlebacks after losing in the preliminary round, but coming up short in a packed field at the 132-pound weight class as he lost in the second round of the fight to third place.
Shawn Steuerer Ready For 'Final Dance' With Johns Hopkins Baseball
Entering college, many athletes have dreams and aspirations of reaching the top of their respective sport. In baseball, the ultimate goal is being drafted by an MLB organization, working through the minor leagues and getting a shot in the big leagues. That goal is somewhat attainable for Division I ballplayers, but the odds become slimmer in Division III ball.
UMBC Softball Looks To Get Back To Summit With Loaded Sophomore Class
Last season was one that UMBC softball would like to forget, a break from what the program had achieved in recent years. In each of the last four full seasons leading up to 2024, the Retrievers won the America East tournament title and advanced to the NCAA Tournament. UMBC added three regular-season conference titles to the trophy case as well. The 2024 season, however, didn’t go as planned. The hunters became the hunted, going 21-24 overall and 10-11 in conference play.

Morgan State Softball Serves As Successful Homecoming For Victoria Fletcher
The recruiting pitch from Morgan State head softball coach Larry Hineline to then-Pensacola State two-way player Victoria Fletcher was a simple one. “Tori was a good high school player,” Hineline said. “She was contemplating not playing anymore, so I convinced her to come to Morgan State. I thought it was a good deal. She had all the athletic skill. That’s how and why we recruited her.

Jaden Walker Finds New But Familiar Home With UMBC Women's Basketball
Home is where the heart is, and for Jaden Walker’s family, one home was UMBC. Older sister Sherelle Walker was a four-year standout for the Retrievers’ volleyball team from 2012-2015. Jaden’s four-year basketball career at St. Joseph’s ended following the 2022-23 season. The 5-foot-10 forward contributed sparingly in 60 career games and missed the entire 2021-22 season due to injury, but she had the opportunity to seek more playing time elsewhere as a graduate transfer.

Maryland’s Parker Robinson and Northwestern’s Jack Heyob face off at the Xfinity Center on Feb. 16, 2020. (Joe Ryan/The Diamondback) It all started with a tweet. On Feb. 16, Team USA wrestler Pat Downey III quote-tweeted a video posted nearly a month prior from Maryland wrestling. That original tweet, from Jan. 20, showed a video about the program’s switch to “Fight Kits,” a newly-allowed uniform style with tight-fitting t-shirts and loose-fitting shorts.
