Turasky Meats avoided much of the damage from last week’s storm that devastated the Animal Protective League just next door.

Severe storms leave damage across Sangamon County Original

SANGAMON COUNTY, Ill. (WCIA) — Severe storms that moved through Central Illinois overnight Wednesday into Thursday left damage across several Sangamon County communities, as crews and residents alike spent Thursday assessing the damage. In Springfield, the Abraham Lincoln Capital Airport experienced damage to multiple hangars, roofs, walls and to small planes. Additionally, the city’s Animal Protection League lost the roofs to its buildings and likely cannot be repaired.
