How America Started WWIII
War is ugly and it leaves in its brutal wake not just death and destruction, but also a seemingly endless number of people whose minds and bodies are permanently damaged. Yet, despite these grim aspects of war, the unsavory affair is still quite common within our species and its existence has come to seem, at this point, like an inevitability. One of the most recent examples of this is the bloody war between Russia and Ukraine.
The Psychology of Corruption
Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power corrupts absolutely. This quote, coined by the British Lord Acton during the late nineteenth century, is beloved by libertarians, and for good reason. In essence, it challenges the notion that any one person, regardless of their standing moral fiber, can handle power without allowing it to negatively influence them.
ALEXANDER OAKES: The continuing resolution tested GOP loyalty and sowed Democrat division
On March 15th, the United States Senate passed a continuing resolution, joining the House of Representatives in funding the federal government until September. This bill's passage in the Senate followed a divisive House session, with all Democrats but one voting against the CR and all but one Republican voting in favor. However, things were somewhat different in the Senate, as nine Democrats and one independent crossed party lines to avoid the filibuster needed to kill the CR and pass the bill.
I Refuse To Be A Serf
President Trump has accomplished a lot in his first month as Commander in Chief and, for the most part, the right side of the aisle is ecstatic about it. He has delivered wins in regard to men competing in women’s sports, removed wasteful DEI policies, and curbed illegal immigration, all with no signs of slowing down anytime soon.
ALEXANDER OAKES: Where are the Epstein Files?
In his first month back in office, President Trump turned many of his campaign promises into promises kept. He has empowered DOGE to cut unnecessary bureaucratic bloat, he has taken swift action on the border, and he has gone full bore against DEI and everything that comes with it. On top of all this, he has also placed a fairly aggressive cabinet, at least when it comes to going against the swamp, which it is, in record time, with very little Republican pushback.
ALEXANDER OAKES: Don’t be fooled by the Dems’ ‘moderation,’ but call their bluff
Last week President Trump addressed Congress, and the nation as a whole, directly and formally for the first time since his inauguration back in January. As expected, there were cheers from the Republicans, boos from the Democrats, passive digs aimed at DJT’s opposition, honorable mentions of VIP guests, and even some damning handheld signs that had the GOP shaking in its boots from laughter.
Is the News Really News?
Recently the legacy media experienced yet another blow to their credibility when it was discovered by Elon Musk’s DOGE that Politico had received over $8 million taxpayer dollars. This is the same outlet that went to great lengths to bury the Hunter Laptop story while at the same time spreading non-stop misinformation about then candidate Trump.
ALEXANDER OAKES: You aren’t a chick, dude, and everyone knows it
Two weeks ago I wrote an article for Human Events titled “The Left must realize that history is turning against the 'trans' craze.” My thesis in this article was simple, if the left continues to push the trans agenda, and more specifically in ways that affect children, then our victory in the culture war regarding this issue is imminent.
ALEXANDER OAKES: We don’t need turds in the MAGA punch bowl
Thus far, President Trump has had all of his cabinet picks confirmed by the Senate with the exception of only a few, and these remaining picks, some of which who just recently made it out of committee, also look poised to win their confirmation votes as well.
ALEXANDER OAKES: The Left must realize that history is turning against the ‘trans’ craze
The right side of the aisle, and the MAGA base in particular, have experienced an epidemic of tennis elbow as of late. This condition, which is also known as lateral epicondylitis, is a condition that can result from overuse of the muscles and tendons in the elbow. The cause of this rash of inflammation, you ask? Too much high-fiving due to the fact that President Trump is delivering win, after win, after win.
This article was originally published by Alexander Oakes at The Mises Institute. American politicians love to tell the citizenry exactly what they are going to do for them. They claim they will install programs for the poor, increase domestic security, strengthen our international image, and fight tirelessly for their constituencies’ rights. But are these even things people want from their elected leaders?

Do You Even Care about the Environment?
It’s only been a few weeks since President Trump became the 47th POTUS and already he is getting to work implementing his vision for the United States. This, as expected, has caused many on the left side of the aisle to return to their old tricks.
ALEXANDER OAKES: NATO, you’re fired
In war, at least for a grunt, there is very little to laugh about. Not only are you always worried about being killed, or worse, getting one of your buddies killed, but you also have an extreme workload with no days off. Put another way, it is like 7-15 months of Mondays, only you are also getting shot at and shelled as you “turn in those TRS reports.” Every now and again, though, something breaks through the day to day horror and makes you laugh so hard you can’t breathe.
The Left Is Lying about Climate Change
The main issue with the federal government’s attempts to regulate the environment is that—as with all things in which the federal government—there is a large degree of corruption, inefficiency, and overall impracticality inherent to their approaches. Take, as two examples, the current administration’s plan to make half of all vehicles on the road electric by 2030 and the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) hatred of nuclear power plants. At face value, these might seem like good ideas.
New Orleans and Blowback?
So far, 2025 has been anything from dull. The incoming president has been sentenced for 34 felony counts, California is facing some of the most severe wildfires in American history, and the Republican side of the aisle is discussing buying Greenland and making Canada the 51st state. Yes, this year is certainly setting itself up—for better or worse—to be one for the books.

ALEXANDER OAKES: Stop blaming climate change for the LA fires
For nearly a week now, the Western coast of California has been bombarded by towering walls of flame and a suffocating blanket of toxic smoke. The toll for these uncontained forest fires amounts to over 50 billion dollars in economic damages, over 10,000 structures permanently destroyed, and most heartbreaking of all, at least 16 confirmed deaths.
Proposed Legislation Offers the Promise of a Much Needed State-Wide Building Code in Missouri
Missouri is one of the few states that does not have a statewide building code by which contractors must abide. Missouri has historically left the adoption and enforcement of such codes to its local municipalities and counties. However, on February 28, 2024, Representative David Casteel introduced the Missouri Building Codes Act into the General Assembly.
ALEXANDER OAKES: This July 4th, pick the candidate who’s better for veterans
The last US president to serve in combat was George H.W. Bush. More specifically, during WWII, Bush Senior, who at the time was the youngest pilot in the entire Navy, flew 58 combat missions and even earned a Distinguished Flying Cross for completing a bombing mission while his plane was on fire. Now, I am not an ardent supporter of Bush senior. In fact, given his involvement in the CIA and other deep state agencies, I look back at his presidency as a failure.

Joe Biden’s Reverse Robin Hood Student Debt Cancellation
The Biden administration recently announced that it is canceling another $7.7 billion in student debt, and this will bring the total amount of student debt it has forgiven to over $160 billion since 2021. The reason for this aggressive push on the topic of student debt, according to some political analysts, is that in the three years Joe Biden has been in office, he has failed to do enough in regard to this issue.
ALEXANDER OAKES: Why Biden’s plans for the National Guard worry veterans like me
President Joe Biden has faced backlash from governors and pundits alike for a recent proposal he pushed regarding the National Guard. The Biden Administration wants to give control over the Air National Guards of all fifty states to the Air Force, with the stated purpose being to bolster the ranks of the Space Force, which was created by President Trump. Now, at face value, this seems like a reasonable plan.
Mayorkas Survives Impeachment, But The Border Drama Is Far From Over
Even though Department of Homeland Security (DHS) Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas just survived impeachment over improper management of the border, illegal immigration remains a top concern for voters, many of whom may now start to blame Biden. After several months of anticipation, the impeachment of DHS Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas has come to an unceremonious end.
Judge Hands Fani Willis a Win in Trump Election Interference Case
On March 15th, 2024, the long-awaited verdict of Fulton County Judge Scott McAfee was finally released. His decision: "The prosecution of this case cannot proceed until the State selects one of two options. The District Attorney may choose to step aside, along with the whole of her office, and refer the prosecution to the Prosecuting Attorneys’ Council for reassignment. See O.C.G.A. § 15-18-5.
The Sins Of The Mother…And Father…And School District
On November 30th, 2021, in the somewhat sleepy town of Oxford Michigan, things were going fairly usual. Unfortunately, this would not be the case for long. The reason for this is because according to Oxford High School surveillance footage, around 12:51 p.m. Ethan Crumbley, a 15-year-old student at the school, was seen going into a bathroom with a backpack. Then, a few moments later he emerged with a gun.
The Sane Citizens’ Approach To Immigration
Immigration has been a concern of US lawmakers since quite literally, well, the beginning. This is to say that even as far back as 1790 lawmakers were already beginning to reform our immigration policy. Of course, these early reforms, such as The Naturalization Act of 1790, were primarily focused on how to increase immigration to the United States, not stop it, but nonetheless, their existence suggests that immigration was still a national concern at the time.
Is The Red Pill Too Red?
When the pendulum of change swings from one side of the ideological spectrum to the other, more often than not the societal and/or cultural changes born from this shift are not ones that would be considered proportional. The Sane Citizens Political Handbook|Paperback
When it comes to politics our country is more divided than ever. Even worse, in today's day and age this division has transcended politics and now determines where you are allowed to live, who you can be friends with, and even what beer you can drink. Well, if you are like me then this status quo of "us vs them" politics is far from ideal. In fact, I would go so far as to say it is a legitimate travesty that would have the founders rolling in their graves.
Aliens And National Security
The universe is so massive that scientists still do not have a sturdy grasp on its true size, only that the observable universe is at least 93 billion light-years across. That is quite a bit of space. So much so, in fact, that it casts serious doubt on the notion that humanity is the only intelligent life floating through the cosmos. You Don’t Have To Like Putin To Be Against America’s Involvement In His War

Chess, Trans Athletes, and Free Markets in Sports
Transgender athletes are becoming increasingly more common in athletic competitions, and this has spurred a great deal of criticism from the right side of the political aisle. Their argument is simple: men have a distinct advantage when it comes to sports. This point seems self-evident given the immense amount of success most trans athletes (typically male to female) experience when they decide to change gender.
