More seriously, it's easy to feel separate from others. And to feel a little superior. Because our egos get in the way all the time. But in the context of creating educational content for health professionals, whether we're designers, strategists, or writers, when ego gets in the way - when we are disconnected from each other, from learners, from the content - it's hard for us to have empathy for the learner. And when we don't have empathy, the content we create will not connect.

Photo by János Venczák on Unsplash The Beano - the longest-running weekly comic for kids in the world - was a staple of my childhood. Published by D.C. Thomson in Dundee, Scotland, the Beano was jammed with seriously iconic artwork and tales from Dennis the Menace, Gnasher the dog, Minnie the Minx, Roger the Dodger, and more. These comic/comical kids were mischievous, energetic, and funny. They were always breaking rules and pushing back at adult authority. Of course, comics aren't just for kids.
