Quimby Country has attracted visitors to its shores for 122 seasons. "It was started by Charles Quimby in 1894 as a fishing camp," said Sharon Laderman, a member of the Quimby Country Board. From fishing to families, the Averill resort has evolved. Laderman married into the Quimby tradition in the 1990s and has been coming here with her family ever since. "There are traditions that go with every week. There's bingo on one night.

What's in a name? For the Vermont Public Service Board, which will change its title in July, apparently not much. The Board on its website has announced that as of July 1 it will be called the Vermont Public Utility Commission. It's mission will remain the same --approving the siting of energy projects and overseeing public utilities.

Dean and Susan Greenberg know their orchids. "The deep pink are the ones that are just coming out," Susan said. The retired couple are volunteer stewards at the Eshqua Bog in Hartland, and June is their busy season. "This place can be packed, especially on a weekend. So this coming weekend it will be very busy here," Susan said. This time of year, everywhere you look are orchids from the hundreds of lady's-slippers, to the rarer northern white or the green bog orchid.
