The Fitbit Edge has me questioning why I even need a smartwatch
I've never been the biggest fan of smartwatches. As someone who despises charging things, the limited battery life you get with them has always put me off. Sure, it's nice to be able to track my workouts, check my notifications and glance at my health stats. But I hate constantly having to put it on charge in the evening, only to forget to put it back on my wrist again, inevitably abandoning the smartwatch altogether. Which is why Google's new Fitbit Edge has me excited.

You should think twice before buying an iPhone 18 Pro screen protector
If you've just shelled out more than a grand on the latest and greatest iPhone 18 Pro, chances are you've already whizzed on over to Amazon to grab yourself a screen protector to swaddle up that expensive bit of kit. But I'd recommend pausing before heading on down to the checkout. This year, iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max owners are going to have to be a little choosier about the screen protector they buy, thanks to a change Apple has made to the Face ID system on its latest flagship phones.

Another year, another batch of déjà vu-inducing Google Pixel phones. The Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL and Pixel 11 Pro Fold have just launched, but once again, there aren’t too many surprises. I’ve spent the past week testing the Pixel 11 Pro, and it’s pretty much what I expected. While Google has improved bits of the hardware, it’s not all that different from its predecessor. The screen is brighter, the cameras are better, the battery lasts longer and there’s a faster processor.

Another year, another series of déjà vu-inducing Google Pixel phones. The Pixel 11, Pixel 11 Pro, Pixel 11 Pro XL and Pixel 11 Pro Fold have just launched, but I wouldn’t say they’re filled with surprises. I’ve spent the past week testing the Pixel 11 Pro, and well, it’s about what I expect from a Pixel phone. Everything is a little bit better than it was last year – the display is brighter, the cameras have been upgraded, the battery lasts longer and the processor is faster.

Sony’s new wearable air conditioner is my non-negotiable in a heatwave
We’re in the midst of another heatwave, and if you’re struggling to cope in the unbearable 32C temperatures, some icy relief has arrived. Launched back in May, Sony's all-new wearable air conditioner is here to save us from melting this summer. Last year, Sony launched the reon pocket pro, a wearable air conditioner that sat at the base of your neck underneath your shirt to cool your entire body down, rather than merely blowing air at you like a handheld fan.

The government has delivered its verdict on the proposed UK VPN ban
Privacy advocates can breathe a sigh of relief. The UK government has ruled out plans to ban or restrict virtual private networks (VPNs) after the technology found itself thrust into the spotlight following the introduction of the Online Safety Act last year. While it never seemed like an outright ban was on the cards, the government began exploring whether to expand age verification to VPNs in March, following a surge in VPN downloads after age checks were introduced for adult websites.

Shark’s new cooling fan is “seriously powerful” – and it’s still in stock
Just as the UK's latest heatwave had begun to ease, forecasters are warning temperatures could climb back to around 30C in parts of the country again. If you've spent the past fortnight sleeping with every window open, carrying a handheld fan everywhere you go and strategically positioning yourself in front of anything that blows cold air, you're probably already thinking ahead.
Fans vs air conditioners: Which to buy to beat the summer heatwave
Just as we get a little respite from the muggy air, it seems Britain's summer of heatwaves is far from over. After scorching temperatures throughout June, forecasters are warning that the mercury could soar again this month, continuing our hunt for the best way to stay cool. Closing the windows, drawing the curtains and hunkering down indoors while screaming “it burns” can help a little, there are far more effective ways to beat the heat.

Meta posted $56.31 billion in first-quarter revenue, beat every analyst estimate on Wall Street and is coming off a record-breaking 2025 that brought in $201 billion. And just two weeks ago, it began laying off 10% of its employees — roughly 8,000 workers, many of them Californians in my district. Mark Zuckerberg, whose personal net worth has climbed past $228 billion, told his own employees the cuts were needed to free up cash for $145 billion in AI infrastructure spending this year.
