Doblin Special to the USA TODAY Network June 18, 2026, 4:41 a.m. ET When last month I read that Boonton Mayor James Lynch vetoed a Town Council-approved ordinance that would have allowed the Pride flag to be flown at municipally-owned Grace Lord Park, it felt like, as the inimitable Yogi Berra would have said, “déjà vu all over again.” Nine years ago, in 2017, I wrote about a similar occurrence in Ridgewood, where there was controversy over flying the Pride flag on village property.
