Microbial sequencing data from clinical samples is often contaminated with human sequences, which have to be removed prior to sharing. Existing methods for human read removal, however, are applicable only after the target dataset has been retrieved in its entirety, putting the recipient at least temporarily in control of a potentially identifiable genetic dataset with potential implications under regulatory frameworks such as the GDPR.

Automated chromatin segmentation based on ChIP-seq data reveals insights into the epigenetic regulation of chromatin accessibility. Existing segmentation methods are constrained by simplifying modeling assumptions, which may have a negative impact on the segmentation quality.

1 Introduction Biodiversity loss is one of the biggest problems we currently face, with many species threatened by extinction. Climate change and other anthropogenic environmental impacts exacerbate the degradation of ecosystems and the decline of biodiversity (Rands et al., 2010). Even with broad public support and an increasing number of policies and actions for biodiversity conservation, biodiversity continued to decline between 2011 and 2020 (Lucy, 2022).
