1 Introduction Aloe vera (Aloe barbadensis Miller) is one of the medicinal and aromatic plants originally from Africa. In addition to various vitamins, minerals, polysaccharides, enzymes, amino acids, proteins, phenols, and organic acids, it has more than 200 bioactive components (Sathyaprabha et al. 2010; Govindammal et al. 2017). Ancient cultures used it in traditional medicine for its antibacterial, antiviral, anticarcinogenic, antioxidant, and anti-inflammatory properties (Gao et al. 2019).

1 INTRODUCTION People have been using aromatic and medicinal herbs for therapeutic purposes for a long time. Approximately 250 medicinal plants were already recognized during the Mesopotamian civilization, and this number continues to grow steadily. In recent years, the utilizing medicinal and aromatic plants in the pharmaceutical industry have increased significantly worldwide (Ghorbanpour et al., 2017).
