Biological and genetic characteristics of Pospiviroid exocortiscitri and Hostuviroid impedihumuli in mulberry trees from Shiraz, Iran, using infectious clones
Abstract Mulberry (Morus alba) leaves exhibiting vein clearing and leaf deformation were subjected to high-throughput sequencing, which revealed the presence of Pospiviroid exocortiscitri (Citrus exocortis viroid, CEVd) and Hostuviroid impedihumuli (Hop stunt viroid, HSVd). Subsequent detection using reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction and Sanger sequencing confirmed the presence of both viroids exclusively in symptomatic samples.
Integration of gene expression analysis and molecular docking in revealing stress-responsive functions of potato chitinases
Abstract Chitin, a long-chain polymer of N-acetylglucosamine units, is a major structural component of the cell walls of many fungi and oomycetes and serves as a strong potent elicitor of plant immune responses. Chitinases are hydrolytic enzymes that degrade chitin, and play important roles in plant defence against pathogens as well as in response to various abiotic stresses.
Identification of common transcriptional responses to salinity of two halophytes: Bruguiera gymnorrhiza and Populus euphratica
Abstract Salinity stress is a major environmental factor that limits plant growth and development. This study identified common differentially expressed genes (DEGs) of two halophyte species, Populus euphratica and Bruguiera gymnorrhiza, using a meta-analysis of retrieved microarray datasets. A total of 27 commonly up-regulated DEGs were identified, including NAC1, GBSS1, NIR1, APR1, and ChlAKR, with the most positive fold changes.
