Interview
What was your first job as a journalist?
I haven’t formally had a job as a journalist, but one of my favorites was doing a radio show called The Beat Box for 7 years.
What does it mean to be a journalist?
It means to be able to give a reader a fly-on-the-wall perspective and insight into any experience.
What tools and software do you use to do your job?
My most frequently used tools and software are Zoom, Google Docs, and Otter.ai.
What's your favorite social network?
It differs from day to day, but Twitter and Instagram are my top two.
Did you work for your high school newspaper? If so, what did you do there?
I never wrote for my high school paper, but I did write for the Minnesota Daily, the college paper.
What story are you most proud of writing or working on?
My latest price for Racket about dessert hummus was one of my favorite things to write.
What's the best pitch you ever got?
Writing about the joy of listening to Prince on his cassette shortly after his passing. Me and an editor talked about the pitch at a bonfire.
When you're not at a computer, where are you most likely to be?
At a restaurant or a record store. Concert is a close third.
