Peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor γ (PPARγ) is a prominent ligand-inducible transcription factor involved in adipocyte differentiation, glucose homeostasis, insulin sensitivity, inflammation, and cell proliferation, making it a therapeutic target for diabetes, metabolic syndrome, autoimmune diseases, and cancer.

INTRODUCTION Burkholderia pseudomallei is a pathogenic Gram-negative bacillus that persists in tropical and subtropical soils worldwide. Exposure to B. pseudomallei can occur due to environmental disturbances, such as severe weather events, during which hosts are infected by aerosol inhalation, contact with contaminated waterways, or via percutaneous inoculation (Apisarnthanarak et al., 2012; Yip et al., 2015).
