1 Introduction The use of energy-based devices (EBDs) in cosmetic procedures has surged in recent years due to their ability to effectively address a range of skin concerns [1, 2]. These EBDs, such as CO2 and Erbium lasers, work by delivering infrared energy to targeted areas and depths of the skin, resulting in ablation, coagulation, and thermal injury.

To the Editor, Mitochondrial health is important for skin health and well-aging [1, 2]. When skin is exposed to damaging intrinsic and extrinsic factors, mitochondria are negatively impacted, leading to dysfunction, reduced energy (adenosine triphosphate), and impaired membrane potential [2]. At this stage, skin may be clinically characterized by dehydration, lack of visual firmness, and a dull appearance [2].

1 Introduction Chemical peels have climbed in popularity, ranking as the third most commonly performed noninvasive skin rejuvenation aesthetic procedure in the United States since 2021 [1, 2]. Chemical peels deploy caustic agents for controlled kerato-coagulation and protein denaturation in the epidermis and dermis [3-6]. Depending on the strength of the caustic agents, chemical peels can penetrate to different depths of the skin [3, 5].
