London’s fintech scene has remained resilient since the UK left the EU, but despite a range of efforts, the country is still struggling to retain start-ups as they grow. London has received the third-highest amount of fintech funding in the years since Brexit, the vote for which happened 10 years ago today. London comes second only to New York and the Bay Area, data from Dealroom shows. Some $57bn has been invested in the city since 2016, compared with $72bn in New York and $91bn in the Bay Area.

HSBC and JPMorgan linked to worker abuse claims in Saudi renewables projects

Some of the world’s largest banks, including JPMorgan, Standard Chartered and HSBC, may be complicit in projects linked to Saudi Arabia’s green energy boom which are “plagued by migrant worker abuse”, the Business & Human Rights Resource Centre has warned. The UK non-profit tracked 40 projects in Saudi Arabia that form part of the country’s renewables industry and interviewed Nepali and Bangladeshi workers employed on nine projects, of which it named five in a report published on Thursday.
