Breaking of Seed Dormancy in Redroot Pigweed

ABSTRACT Experiments were conducted within controlled growth chambers to elucidate the influence of various dormancy-breaking treatments on the germination dynamics of red root pigweed (Amaranthus retroflexus L). The efficacies of gibberellic acid (GA₃), potassium nitrate (KNO₃), mechanical scarification, cold stratification, and hydropriming were assessed to enhance seed germination and facilitate dormancy alleviation.
