Seasonal and sexual variations in plasma concentrations of testosterone, 17β-estradiol, and progesterone in the endangered Beale’s Eyed Turtle, Sacalia bealei , in captivity
Seasonally breeding species exhibit annual gonadal hormone fluctuations that synchronize with reproductive activity and ecology. However, the reproductive physiology of the Beale’s Eyed Turtle (Sacalia bealei), a critically endangered turtle species endemic to southeastern China, remains profoundly undocumented—a knowledge gap that is imperative for its recovery. Herein, we measured plasma concentrations of testosterone (T), 17β-estradiol (E2), and progesterone (P4) in captive S.

Reproductive strategies in loggerhead sea turtle Caretta caretta: polyandry and polygyny in a Southwest Atlantic rookery
This study is the first to assess multiple paternity in loggerhead turtles in Brazil using nuclear DNA markers. Additionally, this is the first study to report instances of polygyny in loggerhead turtles.
Citizen science enhances understanding of sea turtle distribution in the Gulf of California
Introduction Citizen science is a cost-effective method that engages local community groups through public outreach (Bonney et al., 2016). Also known as participatory research or community-based science, this approach can guide scientific research by shaping research questions, improving project design, and enabling new discoveries (Conrad & Hilchey, 2011). Scientific advancements utilizing citizen science are now evolving into legal frameworks and national scientific policies.

The effects of soil drought stress on growth characteristics, root system, and tissue anatomy of Pinus sylvestris var. mongolica
Microscopic observation of seedlings Fresh samples of roots, stems, and needles from P. sylvestris var. mongolica seedlings were rinsed and cut into small samples of one cm, then immediately fixed in 4% glutaraldehyde solution. The samples were put under vacuum suction until completely immersed in the fixative and kept at 4 °C overnight. Furthermore, the samples were rinsed with phosphate buffer (0.1M, pH 6.8) 3–5 times, 10-15 min each time.
