You know how every few years the internet does this thing where it quietly becomes a better place for actual writers? Substack is having that moment right now for recovery writing. Not the kind that opens with "my darkest day" and closes with a hotline number.

Or you’d join a Facebook group only to spend 40 minutes reading heated debates about the best La Croix flavor before quietly logging off. Then Substack happened.

Every year, I wonder how the Sober is the New Cool White Party can possibly get any better. And every year, it does. 🤍 Over 40 women from Canada and the United States gathered together in New York City. Some arrived knowing no one. Others arrived with friends. But by the end of the evening, conversations had turned into connections, stories had turned into friendships, and everywhere I looked, women were finding pieces of themselves in one another.
